Japanese Language
is spoken natively by about 128 million people, primarily by Japanese people and primarily in Japan, the only country where it is the national language. Bill Yoshida
William Saburo Yoshida ( ja, 吉田三郎, December 1921 - February 17, 2005) was a long time letterer for Archie Comics. He was sometimes credited as Bill Yosh or Saburo Yoshida. Born in the United States in 1921, Yoshida and his family were placed in an internment camp for the Japanese during World War II after the signing of Executive Order 9066. In the post-war years, Yoshida was a guitarist and night club singer who also worked as a chef. While bowling in an all-Japanese league in New York City, one of his teammates was leading comics letterer Ben Oda. He learned comic book lettering from Oda and was hired in 1965 by Archie Comics, where he averaged 75 pages a week for 40 years for an approximate total of 156,000 pages. He lettered along with many other well-known Archie Comics talents, such as Stan Goldberg, Dan DeCarlo, Samm Schwartz. Hidekazu Yoshida
was a Japanese music critic and literary critic, active in Shōwa and Heisei Japan. Biography Yoshida was born in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. From an early age, he was interested in languages, and joined in club activities involving English and German when in high school. He was tutored in the French language by noted poet Chūya Nakahara, and corresponded with noted literary critics Hideo Kobayashi and Shōhei Ōoka while still a student. He later graduated from Tokyo Imperial University with a degree in French literature. His first work of music criticism was a series on Mozart, published in the magazine ''Ongaku Geijutsu'' in 1946. In 1948, he helped establish the Toho Gakuen School of Music together with fellow music critics and noted musicians; the school is now one of Japan's most prestigious music institutions. Hidehiko Yoshida
is a Japanese gold-medalist judoka and retired mixed martial artist. He is a longtime veteran of Japan's PRIDE Fighting Championships, competing in the Middleweight (93kg) and Heavyweight divisions. He won gold at the 1992 Summer Olympic Games at 78 kg. Yoshida also had two famous fights with MMA pioneer Royce Gracie that resulted in a no-contest and a time-limit draw. Hatsusaburō Yoshida
was a Japanese cartographer and artist, known by his bird's-eye view maps of cities and towns. Known as the "Hiroshige of the Taisho Era," Yoshida created over 3,000 maps in his lifetime. Biography Yoshida was born in Kyoto in 1884 as Hatsusaburo Izumi. His father died when he was a year old, so he adopted his mother's surname. At age 10, Yoshida became a textile designer apprentice, dyeing textiles for kimono. When he turned 25, he studied foreign painting with Masaro Kagiki, but turned to commercial art at Kagiki's recommendation. In 1914, his first bird's-eye view "Keihan Train Guide" was praised by Emperor Showa (then Crown Prince), who was aboard the Keihan Train on a school trip. Yoshida Hanbei (吉田 半兵衛) was a late seventeenth-century Japanese illustrator in the ''ukiyo-e'' style, the leading illustrator in Kyoto and Osaka around 1664–1689. Unlike many more famous ukiyo-e artists, who worked primarily on individual woodblock prints and paintings, Hanbei worked primarily, if not exclusively, in illustrations for woodblock printed books. Alternatively known as Yoshida Sadakichi, his name is also sometimes romanized as Hambei. Hanbei was the first ukiyo-e book illustrator of Kamigata to sign his works.
