York County School District 3 (also known as Rock Hill Schools) is the largest of the four public school districts in York County, South Carolina, USA. Rock Hill, South Carolina
Rock Hill is the largest city in York County, South Carolina and the fifth-largest city in the state. It is also the fourth-largest city of the Charlotte metropolitan area, behind Charlotte, Concord, and Gastonia (all located in North Carolina, unlike Rock Hill). As of the 2020 census, the population was 74,372. The city is located approximately south of Charlotte and approximately north of Columbia. Rock Hill offers scenic riverfront views along the Catawba River and is home to numerous nature trails, restaurants, and thirty-one parks which are used for both national and local events. Northwestern High School is one of three high schools in Rock Hill, South Carolina, United States. It was opened in 1971 as the city's second high school, replacing Emmett Scott High School, which had been designated for African American students during the era of segregated schools. It has an enrollment of approximately 1,402 students in grades 9–12. Athletics From 2010–2012, South Pointe Athletics competed in Region 4 of AAA along with Chester High, Fairfield Central High, Fort Mill High, Nation Ford High and York Comprehensive High. Winthrop University
Winthrop University is a public university in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It was founded in 1886 by David Bancroft Johnson, who served as the superintendent of Columbia, South Carolina, schools.
