Yonatan Yosef
Yonatan Yosef, is a Jerusalem rabbi, a former spokesman for Jewish settlers in Sheikh Jarrah, and right-wing activist for the Judaization of East Jerusalem. A member of Jerusalem city council since 2018. In 2013, Yosef ran for Jerusalem City Council. In 2018, he was elected to the city council, being in the second place in "Meuchadim" list headed by Aryeh King, which won two of the 31 seats in the counsil. In the 2019 general elections, he was placed 3 in list of Yachad party headed by Eli Yishai, but the party withdrew few days before the election. Yosef obtained ownership of a house in part of Sheikh Jarrah in which a Jewish neighborhood existed prior to the 1948 war, and that the Jordanian authorities rented to a family of Palestinian refugees. In 2021 he demanded the eviction of the family, and personally delivered them the eviction notice. 1948 Palestine War
The 1948 Palestine war was fought in the territory of what had been, at the start of the war, British-ruled Mandatory Palestine. It is known in Israel as the War of Independence ( he, מלחמת העצמאות, ''Milkhemet Ha'Atzma'ut'') and in Arabic as a central component of the Nakba (). It is the first war of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict and the broader Arab–Israeli conflict. Ovadia Yosef
Ovadia Yosef ( he, , Ovadya Yosef, ; September 24, 1920 – October 7, 2013) was an Iraqi-born Talmudic scholar, a posek, the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel from 1973 to 1983, and a founder and long-time spiritual leader of Israel's ultra-Orthodox Shas party. Yosef's responsa were highly regarded within Haredi circles, particularly among Mizrahi communities, among whom he was regarded as "the most important living halakhic authority". Biography Early life Yosef was born in Baghdad, Ottoman Iraq, to Yaakov Ben Ovadia and his wife, Gorgia. Ya'akov Yosef
Ya'akov Yosef ( he, יעקב יוסף; 18 October 1946 – 12 April 2013) was an Israeli rabbi and politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Shas between 1984 and 1988. Early life Ya'akov Yosef (Jacob Joseph) was born in Jerusalem towards the end of the Mandatory Palestine, Mandate era, the second child (oldest son) of Ovadia Yosef, a prominent rabbi. He was educated in the Porat Yosef Yeshiva, Porat Yosef and Kol Torah yeshivas in Bayit VeGan. He was later certified as a rabbi at the Rav Kook Institute. Just Vision is a non religiously unaffiliated nonprofit organization that utilizes storytelling, media and public engagement campaigns to highlight Palestinian and Israeli grassroots leaders working to end the occupation and conflict through unarmed means. They are based in Washington, New York and Jerusalem. Background Just Vision was formed in 2003 by Ronit Avni as a result of 2 years of research and over 475 interviews on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. The goal of the interviews was "to find out what kind of support they needed to advance peace. The overwhelming answer was to become more visible. The pockets of nonviolent activists throughout the region need a space to link and promote their messages."
