Yona Fischer
Yona Fischer ( he, יונה פישר; 20 November 1932 – 3 March 2022) was an Israeli art curator. Biography Fischer began his career in the 1960s at the Bezalel Museum. In 1965 at the opening of the Israel Museum he was appointed curator of Israeli and modern art, and later at the Ashdod Museum of Art. He introduced the works of prominent Israeli artists like Raffi Lavie and Moshe Kupferman. Fisher and Kupferman met in 1967. Kupferman's first major solo exhibition was curated by Fischer in 1969. Bezalel School
The Bezalel school was an art movement in Palestine in the late Ottoman and British Mandate periods. Named for the Bezalel Art School, predecessor of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, it has been described as "a fusion of oriental art and Art Nouveau." Ashdod Museum Of Art
The Ashdod Museum of Art is located in the center of Ashdod, Israel, near the marina. The museum holds exhibitions of Israeli and international contemporary art. The museum has 12 galleries and two halls. In addition, it has a pyramidal space where cultural events are held. The museum was inaugurated in 2003. The museum was officially recognized by the State of Israel only in 2009. One of museum's galleries – the ''Mishbetzet'' gallery – usually hosts original works by Israeli artists for children's education purposes. Raffi Lavie
Raffi Lavie art education, educator and music/art criticism, critic. Lavie's work is a cross between graffiti and abstract expressionism. Biography Rafael (Raffi) Lavi was born in Tel Aviv, Mandatory Palestine, Mandate Palestine. He began teaching at HaMidrasha – Faculty of the Arts 1966. In the same year he was also a founder of the group ''Ten Plus''. Due to severe back problems, Lavie painted in his last years while sitting. On May 7, 2007, he died of pancreatic cancer at his home in Tel Aviv, aged 70. He donated his body to the University of Tel Aviv for research. Moshe Kupferman
Moshe Kupferman (1926-2003) was an Israeli artist. Biography Moshe Kupferman was born on 12 August 1926 in Jarosław, Poland. In 1941, he was exiled with his family to camps in the Urals and in Germany. Moshe Kupferman's work links recent lyric abstraction to the modernistic. It is the result of a process beginning with free, uncritical expression bordering on personal confession, and continuing with critical painting, in which the artist "erases" his "confession". The final result testifies to the preceding stages, and to the inherent conflicts in his work, between expressive drama and introspection, form and atmosphere, destruction and construction. The contradictions he succeeded in integrating in his work placed Kupferman in the front ranks of Israeli art.
