Yoker Athletic
Yoker Athletic Football Club are a Scottish football club based in Clydebank near Glasgow. Yoker is an area of Glasgow adjacent to Clydebank, however Yoker's stadium lies just outside the Glasgow boundary. Nicknamed the ''Whe Ho'', the club were formed in 1886 and are based at Holm Park. The club currently operate in the and play in royal blue or orange strips. Local rivals Clydebank entered the Junior grade in 2003–04 and ground shared with Yoker at Holm Park from 2008 until 2018 after leaving their ground in Duntocher. Yoker were promoted to Central Division One on 23 April 2011 after an 8–0 victory over Newmains United. The team was co-managed since January 2019 by Peter McKenna and Tommy Montgomery, Gordon Robertson took over as manager in 2022. Clydebank ( gd, Bruach Chluaidh) is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Situated on the north bank of the River Clyde, it borders the village of Old Kilpatrick (with Bowling, West Dunbartonshire, Bowling and Milton, West Dunbartonshire, Milton beyond) to the west, and the Yoker and Drumchapel areas of the adjacent Glasgow, City of Glasgow immediately to the east. Yoker Athletic F
Yoker ( gd, An Eochair) is an area of Glasgow, Scotland, on the northern bank of the Clyde east of Clydebank, west of the city centre. From the fourteenth century, the Renfrew Ferry has linked Yoker with Renfrew on the south bank. Although shipbuilding has declined, the nearby Yarrows shipyard, now owned by BAE Systems, is still in operation. The name is an Anglicisation of the Scottish Gaelic ''Eochair'' meaning a river bank. Motor vehicles and tramcars were also manufactured in Yoker, which is now an operations centre for the North Clyde Line, part of Glasgow's suburban rail network. The Intermediate dispute was a major split in Scottish football which lasted from 1925 to 1931 and concerned the compensation that Junior clubs received when one of their players moved to a Senior football league side. Although largely confined to the West of Scotland, the dispute involved many of the best Junior clubs in the country, setting them in direct conflict with both the Scottish Football Association (SFA) and their own organisation, the Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA).
