Yle TV2 ( fi, Yle TV Kaksi; sv, Yle TV Två) is a Finnish television channel owned and operated by Yle. TV2 was launched in 1965 as the successor to the former television channels TES-TV (Tesvisio) and Tamvisio, and broadcasts public service programming, sports, drama, children's, youth, and music programmes. With Yle TV1, it is one of the main television channels of Yle. A HD simulcast of Yle TV2 begun broadcasting in January 2014. Finnish Language
Finnish ( endonym: or ) is a Uralic language of the Finnic branch, spoken by the majority of the population in Finland and by ethnic Finns outside of Finland. Finnish is one of the two official languages of Finland (the other being Swedish). In Sweden, both Finnish and Meänkieli (which has significant mutual intelligibility with Finnish) are official minority languages. The Kven language, which like Meänkieli is mutually intelligible with Finnish, is spoken in the Norwegian county Troms og Finnmark by a minority group of Finnish descent. Finnish is typologically agglutinative and uses almost exclusively suffixal affixation. Nouns, adjectives, pronouns, numerals and verbs are inflected depending on their role in the sentence. ''Elisa di Rivombrosa'' is an Italian television series (partly inspired by the 1740 novel '' Pamela, or Virtue Rewarded'') about a love story in 18th century Italy between Fabrizio Ristori, a young Italian Count, and his mother's maid, Elisa. (; abbreviated UMK; en, italics=yes, Contest for New Music) is an annual music contest organised by the Finnish public broadcaster Yle. UMK began in 2012 as the new format for the Eurovision Song Contest, replacing the original Finnish Eurovision selection ''Suomen euroviisukarsinta'' which had been held since 1961. The series was written by Neil Hardwick and Jussi Tuominen and was directed by Esko Leimu together with Neil Hardwick. ''Se on siinä'' (Finnish for "That's it") was a Finnish humorous television sports quiz show shown on Sunday nights on YLE TV2 from 2001 to 2009. It was awarded the ''Venla''-award for the best entertainment program voted by TV-viewers. The host of ''Se on siinä'' was a popular sports commentator Antero Mertaranta. There were three contestants on the game. Two of them were regular: actor Risto Kaskilahti and comedian Jukka Laaksonen. The third contestant was a celebrity guest. ''Pikku Kakkonen'' (Finnish for "the little number two") is an ongoing Finnish magazine-type children's TV show shown on Yle TV2. The first episode aired on January 11, 1977. It finished with a bedtime story read by the late Lasse Pöysti (1927-2019) and an East German Sandman animation, setting the format for hundreds of later episodes. Currently the series airs twice a day (mornings and night) on the weekdays and once a day (mornings only) on the weekends. The ''Pikku Kakkonen'' show is based in Tampere, and its signature melodies (The ''Pikku Kakkonen'' mail tune and the main title tune) have been made into mobile phone ringing tones. ''Jefferson Anderson (Pasila)'' is a Finnish animated sitcom. The computer-animated series portrays a satirical view of daily events in Helsinki at a police precinct in the suburb of Pasila. The series is made by members of the same team that made the award-winning series '' The Autocrats'', a political animated satire. In 2007, the Finnish Broadcasting Company ( Yle) sent ''Pasila'' to compete for the Rose d'Or. The show's first two seasons were later dubbed in English and are available online.
