Yim Fun Fong
Yim Fun Fong () is a former Chinese actress and Cantonese opera performer from Hong Kong. Fong is credited with over 150 films. Fong has a star at Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong. Early life In 1928, Fong was born as Chow Tung Si in Enping, Guangdong Province, China. Fong grew up with a single (adopted) mother. Fong's real name is Leung Yin-fong n this Chinese name, the family name is Leung (梁). Fong learned Cantonese opera from Kwok Sing Theatre. Education In 1995, Fong received a Doctorate of Humane Letters award from California Lutheran University. In 2004, Fong received the award Doctor of Social Sciences, honoris causa conferred by Lingnan University. In 2013, Fong received a Doctor of Social Science, honoris causa, from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Career In 1937, Fong joined Sing Sau Nin Opera Troupe. The Bronze Bauhinia Star (, BBS) is the lowest rank in Order of the Bauhinia Star in Hong Kong, created in 1997 to replace the British honours system of the Order of the British Empire after the transfer of sovereignty to People's Republic of China and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Jian Youwen
Jian Youwen (1896 – 1978 , sometimes transliterated Jen Yu-wen or Kan Yau-man in older documents) was a Chinese historian, public official, and sometime Methodist pastor, known in particular for his writings on the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. He taught at Yenching University, the University of Hong Kong, and Yale University. Life and career Jian was born in Guangdong in 1896, the son of Jian Yinchu and Jian Wenliu, and educated at Lingnan School, where he was baptized as a Christian. His older brother, Kan Tat-Choy, became a wealthy entrepreneur and later built St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Causeway Bay. In 1914, Jian attended Oberlin College where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1917, and obtained his master's degree from the University of Chicago in 1919, then returned to China in 1921. Hung Sin Nui (25 December 1924 – 8 December 2013) () was a former Chinese actress and Cantonese opera singer from Hong Kong and China. Hung was a national treasure level Cantonese opera master.(Required paid subscription) Life In 1924, Hung was born as Kuang Jianlian (Kwong Kin-lim in Cantonese) in Guangzhou, China. Hung's ancestral hometown is in Kaiping, Guangdong province, China. With her aunt Ho Fu-lin as her mentor, she began to sing Cantonese opera at the age of 12. She started from ''Mui Heung'' and her first stage name was Siu Yin Hung. She took to the stage from 1939, adopting the stage name Hung Sin Nui (Red Line Girl).
