Yiannis Pathiakakis Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Ano Liosia, Greece. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home stadium of Akratitos. The stadium holds 5,000 and was built in 1965. It is named after Giannis Pathiakakis, who guided Akratitos from the lower ranks to the top flight but died in 2002 on the pitch during a training session. Ano Liosia
Ano Liosia ( el, Άνω Λιόσια) is a suburb and a former municipality in the northern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Fyli, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 38.447 km2. Geography Ano Liosia lies in the eastern part of West Attica, between the mountains Parnitha to its north and Aigaleo to its southwest. It is 3 km west of Acharnes, 3 km north of Kamatero, 4 km southeast of Fyli, 10 km east of Aspropyrgos and 11 km north of Athens city centre. A.P.O. Akratitos Ano Liosia ( el, Α.Π.Ο. Ακράτητος Άνω Λιοσίων) is a Greek football professional club from Ano Liosia, Athens, Greece. They currently play in the Alpha Division of the Football League championship, which is the third level of the Greek football pyramid. They maintain a quite strong academy of youngsters. History Akratitos spent their first years in relative obscurity, until they rose from the lower ranks to the top flight under the managership of Giannis Pathiakakis, who died on the pitch during a training session in 2002. Giannis Pathiakakis
Giannis Pathiakakis ( el, Γιάννης Παθιακάκης; 15 June 1953 – 8 February 2002) was a Greek professional Association football, footballer who played as a midfielder and a later Manager (association football), manager. After his death the stadium of Akratitos F.C., Akratitos was named Yiannis Pathiakakis Stadium in his honour. Club career Pathiakakis started his football career in Apollon Smyrnis F.C., Apollon Athens, where he played from 1971 to 1977. He then played for one year in PAOK FC, PAOK and in 1978 he was transferred to Nea Smyrni, in Panionios F.C., Panionios. In the three years he played in Panionios he was particularly productive. He was a key contributor to the progress of the Nea Smyrni club to winning the Greek Football Cup, Greek Cup in 1979.
