Yerdos Zhanabergenov ( kz, Ердос Жаңабергенов) is an amateur boxer from Kazakhstan, best known for winning the light heavyweight title at the 2005 World Amateur Boxing Championships. Career In 2005, he won a gold medal at the Asian Amateur Boxing Championships, and then went on to the 2005 World Amateur Boxing Championships, where he defeated Mourad Sahraoui, Uzbek Olympic bronze medalist Utkirbek Haydarov in the semifinal and Marijo Šivolija Marijo Šivolija-Jelica (born 29 June 1981 in Omišalj) is a Croatian amateur boxer and two-time Olympian best known to medal repeatedly in international competition at light heavyweight. World Amateur Boxing Championships
The IBA World Boxing Championships, and the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships (previously known as AIBA), are biennial amateur boxing competitions organised by the International Boxing Association (IBA), which is the sport governing body. Alongside the Olympic boxing programme, they are the highest level of competition for the sport. The championships were first held for men in 1974 and the first women's championships were held over 25 years later in 2001. Both championships are held separately on biennial schedules. Since 1989 the men's championships are held every odd year; the women's championships were held in even years between 2006 and 2018 and switched to a nominal odd-year schedule in 2019. Mourad Sahraoui ( ar, مراد الصحراوي) (born January 12, 1983) is an amateur boxer from Tunisia best known to win Gold in the heavyweight division at the 2007 All-African Games. Career Sahraoui failed to qualify for the 2004 Athens Games by ending up in third place at the 2nd AIBA African 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Gaborone, Botswana. He won the 2005 Africa Championships. At the World Championships in 2005 he competed at light heavyweight and defeated Yusiel Napoles and two other opponents, but lost in the quarterfinal to eventual winner Yerdos Dzhanabergenov. Utkirbek Haydarov (Уткирбек Хайдаров; born January 25, 1974, in Andijon) is an Uzbekistani boxer who competed in the light heavyweight (81 kg) at the 2004 Summer Olympics and won the bronze medal. Career The aggressive southpaw won the middleweight world title six years earlier in Houston but lost his first match at the Olympics 2000 and moved up in weight. Marijo Šivolija-Jelica (born 29 June 1981 in Omišalj) is a Croatian amateur boxer and two-time Olympian best known to medal repeatedly in international competition at light heavyweight. He also manages heavyweight boxer Mark de Mori. Career In 2003 he won a silver medal at the European Championships. In Athens at the Olympics 2004 he was upset in the first round by Edgar Muñoz.
