Yelizaveta Chernyshova
Yelizaveta Chernyshova (russian: Елизавета Чернышова; born 26 January 1958) is a Russian former Soviet Union, Soviet hurdles, hurdler. She was the 1989 IAAF World Indoor Championships, 1989 World Indoor Champion. Retrieved 16 October 2019. After the fall of the Soviet Union, she continued to compete for Russia. In 1994 she set the W35 Masters W35 100 metres hurdles world record progression, Masters world record in the 100 metres hurdles. She held the record for five years until it was surpassed by another former Soviet hurdler Ludmila Engquist, who was also the runner up in the 1989 Indoor Championships. She was the winner of the 100 metres hurdles at the first Russian Athletics Championships after the break up of the Soviet Union. Ludmila Viktorovna Engquist (née Leonova (russian: Людмила Викторовна Нарожиленко-Леонова). formerly Narozhilenko; born 21 April 1964) is a Russian-Swedish former athlete, who competed mainly in the 100 metres hurdles. She competed for the Soviet Union (until 1991), Russia (from 1992) and Sweden (from 1996). She is the 1996 Olympic champion and the 1991 and 1997 World champion in the 100m hurdles. Her best time of 12.26 secs in 1992, ranks her fourth on the world all-time list. She is also a former world record holder in the 60 metres hurdles with 7.69 secs (1990). World Athletics Indoor Championships
The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Organised by the World Athletics, the competition was inaugurated as the ''World Indoor Games'' in 1985 in Paris, France and were subsequently renamed to IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019. They have been held every two years except for when they were held in consecutive years 2003 and 2004 to facilitate the need for them to be held in alternate years to the main World Athletics Championships (outdoors) in the future. 100 Metres Hurdles
The 100 metres hurdles, or 100-meter hurdles, is a track and field event run mainly by women (the male counterpart is the 110 metres hurdles). For the race, ten Hurdling, hurdles of a height of are placed along a straight course of . The first hurdle is placed after a run-up of 13 metres from the starting line. The next 9 hurdles are set at a distance of 8.5 metres from each other, and the home stretch from the last hurdle to the finish line is 10.5 metres long. The hurdles are set up so that they will fall over if bumped into by the runner, but weighted so this is disadvantageous. Fallen hurdles do not count against runners provided that they do not run into them on purpose. Like the 100 metres sprint, the 100 m hurdles begins with athletes in starting blocks.
