Yehiel Krize
Yehiel Krize ( he, יחיאל קריזה) was an Israeli painter, born in 1908 in Kalisz, Poland. He died in 1968. Biography Krize was born and raised in a Jewish family in the town of Kalisz in central Poland. In 1923 he immigrated to Land of Israel with his mother, two brothers and two sisters and settled in the Makor Chaim neighborhood of Jerusalem. In 1924, the family reunited with father Yitzhak, a member of the Mizrachi movement, who established a workshop for weaving keffiyehs. Due to the family's livelihood difficulties, the family moved to the barracks neighborhood in Petah Tikva, where the father worked as a paint contractor. In his youth as a pioneer, Yechiel worked in the orchards in Binyamina. In his youth he sometimes engaged in weaving, which according to his testimony influenced his style. Habima Theatre
The Habima Theatre ( he, תיאטרון הבימה ''Te'atron HaBima'', lit. "The Stage Theatre") is the List of national theatres, national theatre of Israel and one of the first Hebrew language theatres. It is located in Habima Square in the center of Tel Aviv. History Habima was founded by in Białystok (then in Grodno Governorate, Russian Empire) in 1912. Menahem Gnessin was one of its cofounders and early actors. Avni Institute Of Art And Design
Avni Institute of Art and Design is an Israeli art school located in Tel Aviv. History The Studia school (later Avni Institute) was established in 1936 by a group of Jewish artists. Among the founders was Aharon Avni, who became the school's first director. After Avni's death the school was renamed in his memory. The school offers degrees in art and design and architecture. It also runs a Bachelor of Arts program in collaboration with the Open University of Israel. The Avni Institute is located in a complex of buildings on Eilat Street in South Tel Aviv. The buildings are named after the school's leading teachers. On the premises is a large gallery space where students can exhibit their works. Raffi Lavie educator and music/art critic. Lavie's work is a cross between graffiti and abstract expressionism. Biography Rafael (Raffi) Lavi was born in Tel Aviv, Mandate Palestine. He began teaching at HaMidrasha – Faculty of the Arts 1966. In the same year he was also a founder of the group ''Ten Plus''. Due to severe back problems, Lavie painted in his last years while sitting. On May 7, 2007, he died of pancreatic cancer at his home in Tel Aviv, aged 70. He donated his body to the University of Tel Aviv for research. Art career He studied at the Art Teachers' Training College in Tel Aviv and later taught at the HaMidrasha – Faculty of the Arts in Ramat HaSharon. Ofakim Hadashim
Ofakim Hadashim (, lit. "New Horizons") is an art movement started in Tel Aviv in 1942. New Horizons The Ofakim Hadashim art movement began with a group of artists who mounted an exhibition in Tel Aviv's Habima national theater in December 1942, under the name "The Group of Eight". The group evolved into a coherent artistic movement only after the founding of the state of Israel in 1948. Members of the school included Arie Aroch, Zvi Meirowitch, Avraham Naton (Natanson), Avigdor Stematsky and Yehezkel Streichman. The work of sculptor Dov Feigin also appeared in the catalog of the 1942 exhibition, though it was not displayed. In February 1947 five of the original members of the group joined Joseph Zaritsky for an exhibit called "The Group of Seven" at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
