Valentina Yegorova
Valentina Mikhailovna Yegorova (russian: Валентина Михайловна Егорова, born 16 February 1964) is a long-distance runner from Russia. She was born in Cheboksary. Her first medal in the marathon came at the 1990 European Athletics Championships, where she was the silver medallist. Career Yegorova competed in the women's marathon for the Unified Team at the 1992 Summer Olympics held in Barcelona, Spain. There she won the gold medal beating the Japanese athlete Yuko Arimori into second. She won a second global title at the 1995 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. She returned to compete for Russia in the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, where she won the silver medal in the women's marathon, again beating Yuko Arimori this time into third. She made her final major appearance at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where she failed to finish the Olympic marathon. Violetta Egorova (Russian: Виолетта Викторовна Егорова) is a Russian concert pianist. Biography She was born in Krasnodar on November 16, 1969, a city on the southernmost section of Russia. She began to play and improvise on the piano age of four. At the age of six, she made her debut on TV, playing pieces from "The Children’s album" by Robert Schumann. Egorova entered the Moscow Central Special Music School for Gifted Children at the age of six, where she studied with A. Artobolevskaya and Alexander Mndoyants. Anna Yegorova
Anna Alexandrovna Timofeyeva-Yegorova (russian: Анна Александровна Тимофеева-Егорова; 23 September 1916 – 29 October 2009) was a pilot in the Soviet Air Force during the Second World War. She flew a total of 277 sorties that included liaison, reconnaissance and ground-attack missions before she became a prisoner-of-war when her Il-2 was shot down. She was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in 1965. Early years Anna Yegorova was born into a peasant family in the village Volodovo (now in Tver Oblast). Eight of her fifteen siblings died when they were infants. Her father, Aleksandr Yegorov, fought in the First World War as well as the Russian Civil War as a Bolshevist. Combat stress and other hardships deteriorated his health, and in 1925 he died at 49 years of age. After seven years of school, Yegorova joined Mosmetrostroy, where she worked as a steelman, and then as a tiler on the construction of Krasnye Vorota station. Her const ...
