Ezriel Carlebach (also ''Azriel''; born Esriel Gotthelf Carlebach, he, עזריאל קרליבך, yi, עזריאל קארלעבאך; November 7, 1908 – February 12, 1956) was a leading journalist and editorial writer during the period of Jewish settlement in Palestine and during the early days of the state of Israel. He was the first editor-in-chief of Israel's two largest newspapers, ''Yediot Ahronot'', and then ''Ma'ariv.'' Biography Ezriel Carlebach was born in the city of Leipzig, Germany, descendant of a family of rabbis. His parents were Gertrud Jakoby and Ephraim Carlebach (1879–1936), a rabbi and founder of ''Höhere Israelitische Schule'' in Leipzig. Herzl Rosenblum ( he, הרצל רוזנבלום, also known as Herzl Vardi, 14 August 1903 – 1 February 1991) was an Israeli journalist and politician. A signatory of the Israeli declaration of independence, he worked as editor of Yedioth Ahronoth for more than 35 years. Biography Born in Kaunas in the Russian Empire (today in Lithuania), Rosenblum moved to Vienna after experiencing anti-semitism and being prevented from studying law. In Vienna, he studied law and economics, gaining a PhD. He then moved to London, where he worked as an aide to Ze'ev Jabotinsky, a leader of the Revisionist Zionism movement. In 1935 he immigrated to Mandate Palestine and started working for the '' HaBoker'' newspaper, where he wrote under the pseudonym Herzl Vardi. Noah Mozes ( he, נח מוזס, 1912 – October 7, 1985) was an Israeli newspaper publisher, and the long-time managing editor of the Israeli newspaper ''Yedioth Aharonoth''. Biography He was the son of Yehuda Mozes, and was initially an agronomist. He died on October 7, 1985, in Tel Aviv as a result of injuries incurred when he was hit by a city bus in a traffic accident, at the age of 73.
