Yeah Yeah Yeahs (EP)
''Yeah Yeah Yeahs'' is the debut EP by American indie rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs, released in 2001 by the band's own label, Shifty. It is sometimes incorrectly called ''Master'' due to the prominence of a necklace bearing that word on the album's cover. It reached number 1 on the UK Indie Chart. As of 2009, sales in the United States have exceeded 71,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The EP was named '' NME''s second best single of 2002. Track listing The track "Our Time" interpolates the Tommy James and the Shondells song " Crimson and Clover"; when Karen O sings "''It's the year to be hated / So glad that we made it''," the melody is taken from the hit song, which reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1969. The band has recorded five studio albums; the first, '' Fever to Tell'', was released in 2003. The second, '' Show Your Bones'', was released in 2006 and was named the second best album of the year by '' NME''. Their third studio album, ''It's Blitz!'', was released in March 2009. UK Indie Chart
The UK Independent Singles Chart and UK Independent Albums Chart are charts of the best-selling independent singles and albums, respectively, in the United Kingdom. Originally published in January 1980, and widely known as the indie chart, the relevance of the chart dwindled in the 1990s as major-label ownership blurred the boundary between independent and major labels. Separate independent charts are currently published weekly by the Official Charts Company. History In the wake of punk, small record labels began to spring up, as an outlet for artists that were unwilling to sign contracts with major record companies, or were not considered commercially attractive to those companies. By 1978, labels like Cherry Red, Rough Trade, and Mute had started up, and a support structure soon followed, including independent pressing, distribution and promotion. These labels got bigger and bigger, and by 1980 they were having Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart. Chart success was limited ...

Audio Mastering
Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). In recent years digital masters have become usual, although analog masters—such as audio tapes—are still being used by the manufacturing industry, particularly by a few engineers who specialize in analog mastering. Mastering requires critical listening; however, software tools exist to facilitate the process. Results depend upon the intent of the engineer, the skills of the engineer, the accuracy of the speaker monitors, and the listening environment. Mastering engineers often apply equalization and dynamic range compression in order to optimize sound translation on all playback systems. It is standard practice to make a copy of a master recording—known as a safety copy—in case t ...

Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand. A plectrum or individual finger picks may also be used to strike the strings. The sound of the guitar is projected either acoustically, by means of a resonant chamber on the instrument, or amplified by an electronic pickup and an amplifier. The guitar is classified as a chordophone – meaning the sound is produced by a vibrating string stretched between two fixed points. Historically, a guitar was constructed from wood with its strings made of catgut. Steel guitar strings were introduced near the end of the nineteenth century in the United States; nylon strings came in the 1940s. The guitar's ancestors include the gittern, the vihuela, the four-course Renaissance guitar, an ...
