Ye Xiushan
Ye Xiushan (; 4 July 1935 – 7 September 2016) was a Chinese philosopher, aestheticist and Chinese Opera theorist. Ye was one of the first Faculty Scholars at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), a , and a member of the 8th, the 9th and the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference as an independent scholar. Biography Ye was born in Yangzhong, Yangzhong County, China in 1935 and moved to Shanghai with his parents at the age of 4. He graduated from Peking University with a major in Philosophy in 1956. Ye was a visiting scholar at University at Albany, SUNY and University of Oxford in the 1980s. He served as a professor at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and a professor and Ph.D. student advisor in the Department of Philosophy at Tsinghua University. Kunming
Kunming (; ), also known as Yunnan-Fu, is the capital and largest city of Yunnan province, China. It is the political, economic, communications and cultural centre of the province as well as the seat of the provincial government. The headquarters of many of Yunnan's large businesses are in Kunming. It was important during World War II as a Chinese military center, American air base, and transport terminus for the Burma Road. The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece.
