Yavanika
''Yavanika'' () is a 1982 Indian Malayalam-language mystery thriller film written and directed by K. G. George, and starring Mammootty, Bharath Gopi, Nedumudi Venu, Jalaja and Thilakan in lead roles. The film is regarded as one of the finest mystery or investigative thrillers ever made in Malayalam cinema. The film explores backstage drama of a travelling drama group. The plot is structured around the search for an unpopular tabla player of the troupe who suddenly disappears. The movie makes use of the ''Rashomon Effect.'' The film received wide critical acclaim. ''Yavanika'' is one of George's most celebrated films, regarded by critics as a masterpiece of Malayalam cinema. K. Ramachandra Babu (15 December 1947 – 21 December 2019) was an Indian cinematographer of over 125 films, out of which most are Malayalam films. He also worked for films in Tamil language, Tamil, Telugu language, Telugu, Hindi, Arabic and English language, English languages. Palappurathu Kesavan Surendranatha Thilakan (15 July 1935 – 24 September 2012) was an Indian film and stage actor who appeared in over 200 Malayalam films. Thilakan was known for his elaborate method acting, realistic and spontaneous appearances. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest Indian actors of all time. Henry is an Indian film producer and film distributor, who heads the studios Carolina Films and Pangaj Productions. History Henry began his film career as a producer through Carolina Films and notably made ''Yavanika'' (1982), a Malayalam film with Mammootty in the lead role. The film performed well commercially and launched the career of Mammootty, while Henry won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film prize. Gopynathan Velayudhan Nair (2 November 1937 – 29 January 2008), popularly known by the stage name Bharat Gopy, was an Indian actor, producer and director. He was one of the first actors to be associated with the New Wave cinema movement in Kerala during the 1970s.
