Yasmil Raymond
Yasmil Raymond is a visual art curator and the rector of the Städelschule in Frankfurt. Education Raymond received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Master of Arts from the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College. In 2004, she won the Monique Beudert Curatorial Award given by the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College. Career From 1999-2002, Raymond worked in the education department of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. She worked at the Walker Art Center for five years starting in 2004, where she was first hired as a curatorial fellow, and later became an Associate Curator to the Visual Art department. In 2009, Raymond joined the Dia Art Foundation as curator. While there, she primarily focused on American and European art with a special emphasis in contemporary art. A curator (from la, cura, meaning "to take care") is a manager or overseer. When working with cultural organizations, a curator is typically a "collections curator" or an "exhibitions curator", and has multifaceted tasks dependent on the particular institution and its mission. In recent years the role of curator has evolved alongside the changing role of museums, and the term "curator" may designate the head of any given division. Kara Walker
Kara Elizabeth Walker (born November 26, 1969) is an American contemporary painter, silhouettist, print-maker, installation artist, filmmaker, and professor who explores race, gender, sexuality, violence, and identity in her work. She is best known for her room-size tableaux of black cut-paper silhouettes. Walker was awarded a MacArthur fellowship in 1997, at the age of 28, becoming one of the youngest ever recipients of the award. She has been the Tepper Chair in Visual Arts at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University since 2015. Trisha Brown (November 25, 1936 – March 18, 2017) was an American choreographer and dancer, and one of the founders of the Judson Dance Theater and the postmodern dance movement. Brown’s dance/movement method, with which she and her dancers train their bodies, remains pervasively impactful within international postmodern dance. Tomás Saraceno (San Miguel de Tucumán, 1973) is an Argentine contemporary artist whose projects, consisting of floating sculptures, international collaborations, and interactive installations, propose and dialogue with forms of inhabiting and sensing the environment that have been suppressed in the Capitalocene era. Robert Whitman (born 1935 in New York City) is an American artist best known for his seminal theater pieces of the early 1960s combining visual and sound images, actors, film, slides, and evocative props in environments of his own making. Since the late 1960s he has worked with new technologies, and his most recent work incorporates cellphones.
