Yashas Shetty
Yashas Shetty is an Indian contemporary artist. He is most well known for his work with (Art)ScienceBLR and the Indian Sonic Research Organization (ISRO). In 2009 he founded Hackteria, with the artists Andy Gracie and the biohacker Marc Dusseiller while all three were in residence at Medialab-Prado in Madrid. He is a faculty member of the Srishti Institute of Art Design and Technology and a founding member of the Center for Experimental Media Art (CEMA). His students have successfully constructed low cost innovation products microscope from webcam, a low speed centrifuge from egg beater and low cost incubator designed from cardboard and have won awards at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (IGEM) competition. Hackteria
Hackteria is a web platform and collection on their wiki pages of open source BioArt, biological art projects instigated in February 2009 by Andy Gracie, Marc Dusseiller and Yashas Shetty, after collaboration during the Interactivos?09 Garage Science at Medialab-Prado, Medialab Prado in Madrid. According to their website the aim of the project is to develop a rich wiki-based web resource for people interested in or developing projects that involve bioart, open source software/open source hardware, DIY biology, art/science collaborations and electronic experimentation. Medialab-Prado
The Medialab-Prado, sometimes abbreviated MLP, is a cultural space and citizen lab in Madrid (Spain). It was created by the Madrid City Council in 2000, growing since then into a leading center for citizen innovation. It follows a participatory approach, using collective intelligence methods (developed in living labs) and fast prototyping tools such as fab labs, to use and co-create digital commons. International Genetically Engineered Machine
The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition is a worldwide synthetic biology competition that was initially aimed at undergraduate university students, but has since expanded to include divisions for high school students, entrepreneurs, and community laboratories, as well as 'overgraduates'. The Radio Quarantine was a Bangalore-based internet community radio launched on 26 March and operated by a network of independent composers and instrument makers. History The Radio Quarantine was launched in the city of Bangalore, Karnataka on 26 March 2020, a day after the launch of Radio Quarantine Kolkata and was operated by a network of independent composers and instrument makers called the Indian Sonic Research Organisation. It went live every night from 9 p.m. onwards and its programs were primarily run by the musician Yashas Shetty, one of the members of the network.
