Yarraville Football Club
Yarraville Football Club was an Australian rules football club founded in 1903 and played in the VJFA until 1927. In 1928, the club joined the Victorian Football Association where it played until 1984 when the club went into recess. In 1996, the Kingsville Football Club in the Western Region Football League who by this time had taken over the Yarraville ground changed their name to Yarraville. In 2007 the Yarraville Football Club merged with the Seddon Football Club to become the Yarraville Seddon Eagles. History The VJFA years (1903–1927) Yarraville Football Club was formed on April 1, 1903. It then joined the Victorian Junior Football Association, where it was highly successful. Yarraville Seddon Football Club
The Yarraville Seddon Eagles Football Club is an Australian rules football club which has competed in the Western Region Football League since 2007. They are based in the Melbourne suburb of Yarraville. The original Yarraville Football Club, which disbanded in 1984, is not a predecessor club of the Yarraville Seddon Eagles, however the newer club "recognise(s) their achievements". History The Kingsville Football Club was a member of the FDFL from 1936. They wore a jumper that was similar to that of Williamstown in the VFL. They had a home ground in Roberts St, Yarraville before moving to the Yarraville Oval in 1990. In 1996, Kingsville changed its name to the Yarraville Football Club, having started playing at the Yarraville Oval several years earlier. 1935 VFA Season
The 1935 Victorian Football Association season was the 57th season of the Australian rules football competition. The premiership was won by the Yarraville Football Club, after it defeated Camberwell by nine points in the Grand Final on 7 September. It was the club's first VFA premiership, won in its eighth season of competition. Finals venue After having played finals at the central Olympic Park for the previous two seasons, the Association returned to the practice of playing finals at suburban Association grounds. Toorak Park, which had never previously hosted a final, was used for both a semi-final and the Grand Final. The 1961 Victorian Football Association season was the 80th season of the Australian rules football competition. The season saw a significant change in the structure of the Association, with the competition split into two divisions, with promotion and relegation between them, a system which remained in place until 1988. The Division 1 premiership was won by the Yarraville Football Club, after it defeated Williamstown in the Grand Final on 30 September by 63 points; it was Yarraville's second and final VFA premiership, and its first since 1935. Whitten Oval (also known as Victoria University Whitten Oval under a naming rights agreement) is a stadium in the inner-western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in Barkly Street, West Footscray. It is the training and administrative headquarters of the Western Bulldogs (formerly the Footscray Football Club), which competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The Argus finals systems were a set of related systems of end-of-season championship playoff tournament used commonly in Australian rules football competitions in the early part of the 20th century. The systems generally comprised a simple four-team tournament, followed by the right of the top ranked team from the home-and-away season to challenge for the premiership.
