Yap Thiam Hien Award
Penghargaan Yap Thiam Hien (Yap Thiam Hien Award) is an award given by Yayasan Pusat Studi Hak Asasi Manusia to people with contributions in human rights issues in Indonesia. The name is based on an Indonesian Chinese lawyer and a human right activist Yap Thiam Hien. The award is usually given every 10 December since 1992. Aleta Baun is an Culture of Indonesia, Indonesian environmental activist. She has been described as the Indonesian Avatar. She won the 2013 Goldman Environmental Prize for organizing hundreds of local villagers to peacefully occupy marble mining sites in “weaving protests,” to stop destruction of sacred forest land on Mutis Mountain on the island of Timor. Anis Hidayah
Anis Hidayah (born 1976) is an Indonesian activist who works with migrant workers and human rights issues. Her work has been recognized by Human Rights Watch in Toronto with the receipt of the Alison Des Forges Award in 2011 and the Yayasan Pusat Studi Hak Asasi Manusia with the Yap Thiam Hien Award for human rights in 2014. She was listed by BBC 100 Women in 2013. Early life Anis Hidayah was born on 7 November 1976 in a small village in the Bojonegoro Regency of East Java, in Indonesia. ''Tempo'' is an Indonesian weekly magazine that covers news and politics. It was founded by Goenawan Mohamad and Yusril Djalinus and the first edition was published on 6 March 1971. History New Order era On June 21, 1994, under the New Order of President Suharto, Information Minister Harmoko banned the publishing of ''Tempo'' magazine, along with two other weekly news magazines, ''Editor'' and ''DeTik'', citing them as a threat to national stability. Widji Thukul
Widji Thukul (born 26 August 1963) is an Indonesian poet and activist. His work is political, often critical of the Indonesian government and the social conditions of the country. He has been missing since 1998. Life Born on 26 August 1963, Thukul attended junior high school, but left middle school in 1982 due to his family's financial constraints. Early jobs included newspaper-seller, ticket-scalper, and finisher in a furniture shop. As well as being a poet, Thukul was also a musician and also accompanied a theatre group, Theater Jagat, around Solo. In 1988, Thukul married Dyah Sujirah. They had two children.
