Yanokuchi Station
is a passenger railway station located in the city of Inagi, Tokyo, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Lines Yanokuchi Station is served by the Nambu Line, and is situated from the terminus of the line at Kawasaki Station. Station layout The station consists of one elevated island platforms, with the station building located underneath. The station is staffed. Platforms History The station opened on 1 November 1927. With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR East. The Nambu Line ( ja, 南武線,) is a Japanese railway line which connects Tachikawa Station in Tachikawa, Tokyo and Kawasaki Station in Kawasaki, Kanagawa. For most of its length, it parallels the Tama River, the natural border between Tokyo and Kanagawa prefectures. It lies along the Tama Hills. It is part of the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) network. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks.
