Yang Jingzhu
Yang Jingzhu (born 19 January 1976) is a Chinese former professional tennis player. In 1999 he made his only ATP Tour main draw appearance, partnering Li Si in doubles at the Shanghai Open. He and Si were beaten in the first round by the world's top ranked doubles pair, Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes. Yang featured in five Davis Cup ties for China and also represented his country in multi-sport events. The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. In July 2020 as part of a new branding system by the FISU, it was stated that the Universiade will be officially branded as the FISU World University Games. The 2001 Summer Universiade, also known as the XXI Summer Universiade, was an international multi-sport event that took place in Beijing, China, between 22 August and 1 September. A total of 6,757 athletes from 165 nations took part in 12 sports. The hosts, China, topped the medal table for the first time, with a total of 103 medals and 54 gold medals (more than twice the number of gold- medals won by the United States, in second place). A multi-sport event is an organized sporting event, often held over multiple days, featuring competition in many different sports among organized teams of athletes from (mostly) nation-states. The first major, modern, multi-sport event of international significance was the Olympic Games, first held in modern times in 1896 in Athens, Greece and inspired by the Ancient Olympic Games, one of a number of such events held in antiquity.
