Yana Vadimyvna Zinkevych ( uk, Яна Вадимівна Зінкевич, born 2 July 1995 in Rivne) is a paraplegic Ukrainian member of parliament and a military veteran. She was chosen as one of the BBC's 100 Women in 2022. Life She was born in 1995 in Rivne. She was educated at and she took her medical training at the During the Donbass War, Zinkevych was the commander of the Hospitallers Medical Battalion, having reportedly saved approximately 200 soldiers. She was seriously injured in a car accident in December 2015, and as a result she was left paralysed and she therefore uses a wheelchair. She is one of the recipients of the Ukrainian Order of Merit. In 2022 she was listed as one of BBC's 100 Women. She was chosen as the European Solidarity party's representative in the 9th convocation of the Verhovna Rada at the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election. 2019 Ukrainian Parliamentary Election
Snap elections to the Ukrainian parliament were held on 21 July 2019. Originally scheduled to be held at the end of October, these elections were brought forward after newly inaugurated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dissolved parliament on 21 May 2019, during his inauguration. The election result was the one-party majority, a novelty in Ukraine, for President Zelenskyy's Servant of the People party with 254 seats. About 80 percent of the elected candidates were new to parliament; 83 deputies managed to get reelected from the previous parliament and 13 deputies from earlier convocations.
