Yamaha SY85
The Yamaha SY85 is a digital music workstation introduced in 1992. Unlike other Yamaha Corporation, Yamaha synthesizers of the time (Yamaha SY77, SY77 and the Yamaha SY99, SY99) the SY85 does not use Frequency modulation synthesis, FM synthesis. Instead, its sounds are based on samples, which can be layered and modified to create new sounds. User interface The workstation features a 61-note velocity-sensitive Musical keyboard, keyboard with Keyboard expression, aftertouch, a double density 3.5" floppy drive, a two line, 40 character LCD display, and a nine-track MIDI Music sequencer, sequencer. It is a multitimbral synthesizer with 30-note Polyphony (instrument), polyphony and full MIDI capabilities. Pulse-code modulation (PCM) is a method used to digitally represent sampled analog signals. It is the standard form of digital audio in computers, compact discs, digital telephony and other digital audio applications. A SIMM (single in-line memory module) is a type of memory module containing random-access memory used in computers from the early 1980s to the early 2000s.
