Yakima Valley Sundome
The Yakima Valley SunDome is a 6,195-seat multi-purpose arena in Yakima, Washington, United States. It was built in 1990, on the Central Washington State Fairgrounds, by contractor Gilbert H. Moen Co and architecture firm Loofburrow & Associates. The SunDome was designed to host sporting events, i.e. basketball, soccer, volleyball, ice shows, horse shows, circuses, boxing and concerts, as well as agricultural expos, trade shows, symposiums, conventions, and much more. The Yakima Valley SunDome constituted the second Dome in the world to use a concrete sectional roof design (24 segments), the first being Seattle's Kingdome. Yakima ( or ) is a city in and the county seat of Yakima County, Washington, and the state's 11th-largest city by population. The Central Washington State Fair is a state fair in Yakima County, Washington, United States held annually in September. The fair is held in Yakima, Washington at the State Fair Park. The fair was first held in 1892. History In 1892 the first fair was held in Yakima when a group of businessmen assumed the responsibility of putting on a fair in a downtown building. Previous to this time the entire State of Washington, for a period of two years, had been in an uproar trying to decide on the location of the state capital. On February 16, 1892, the legislature made its decision and Yakima received the nod for the state fair and Olympia retained the title of Capital City. The bill creating the State Agricultural Fair was passed on March 2, 1893, and $10,000 was set aside for work on the buildings. American Indoor Football
American Indoor Football (AIF) was a professional indoor football league, one of the several regional professional indoor football leagues in North America. The AIFL began as a regional league with six franchises on the East Coast of the United States in 2005. After a rapid, and largely failed, expansion effort in 2006, most of the league's remaining teams jumped to the new AIFA (the rest joined the short-lived WIFL). The AIFA expanded throughout existing territory and, in 2008, expanded into the Western United States. The league legally divided into two entities to allow for a partial merger with the Southern Indoor Football League, which resulted in all of its Eastern teams merging into the SIFL and the AIFA only maintaining its western teams.
