Ya Di Ya
"Ya Di Ya" is a song by American R&B singer, Gina Thompson. It features guest vocals by Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott and was released as the lead single from Thompson's unreleased album, '' If You Only Knew'' (1999). The song became a minor hit, where it peaked at #38 on ''Billboard'' Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and scored Thompson her second top 40 R&B hit and Elliott's fifteenth overall top 40 R&B hit. Because of its strong radio airplay and charting outside the United States, a "Rufftime" remix was issued via international pressings of "Ya Di Ya". To date, "Ya Di Ya" is Thompson's only single as a leading artist to chart outside the United States. Music video The music video for the song premiered in early July 1999 on The Box. Gina Thompson (born Lugenia Thompson in Vineland, New Jersey, on November 10, 1976) is an American R&B singer. Born to Edward L. Thompson, Sr. and Eugenia Thompson, Gina Thompson began singing at an early age and was signed to her first recording contract with Mercury Records shortly after graduating high school. Recording career ''Nobody Does It Better'' was Gina Thompson's first album. Released in 1996, it featured production by Missy Elliott and Diddy, and featured appearances by Elliott, Diddy, and Craig Mack, among others. Her first single from the album, "The Things That You Do", was a success, peaking at number 41 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 charts, and number 12 on ''Billboard'''s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. "Hot Boyz" is a song by American hip hop recording artist Missy Elliott featuring American rapper and singer-songwriter Lil' Mo. The remix version of the song was an urban hit featuring Nas, Eve and Q-Tip. The remix broke the record for most weeks at number-one on the US R&B chart on the issue dated January 15, 2000; as well as spending 18 weeks at number one on the Hot Rap Singles from December 4, 1999, to March 25, 2000, a record not broken until "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X in 2019.
