Ya Ya (Lee Dorsey Song)
"Ya Ya" is a song by Lee Dorsey. The song was written by Dorsey, C. L. Blast, Bobby Robinson, and Morris Levy. Levy's participation in the writing has been called into question; the Flashback release of the single lists only Dorsey and Blast as writers, as do the liner notes to the ''American Graffiti'' soundtrack. Background The song was inspired by a children's nursery rhyme, and includes session guitar player Jimmy Spruill on it. Chart performance The song reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the R&B singles chart in 1961. Cover versions Beatles connection According to author Mark Lewisohn in ''The Complete Beatles Chronicles'' (p. 365), the Beatles regularly performed "Ya Ya", live from 1961 to 1962 in Hamburg, Liverpool and elsewhere. Tricky Sam Nanton
Joe "Tricky Sam" Nanton (February 1, 1904 – July 20, 1946) was an American trombonist with the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Early life Joe Nanton was born Joseph Irish Nanton in New York City, United States. His parents were John Barzly Nanton and Emily Irish, both immigrants from the British West Indies. Nanton began playing professionally in Washington, D.C., with bands led by Cliff Jackson and banjoist Elmer Snowden. From 1923 to 1924, Nanton worked with Frazier's Harmony Five. A year later, he performed with Snowden. At the age of 22, Nanton found his niche in Duke Ellington's Orchestra, when he reluctantly took the place of his friend Charlie Irvis in 1926, and remained with Ellington until his early death in 1946. Nanton, along with Lawrence Brown, anchored the trombone section. The wah-wah Nanton was one of the great pioneers of the plunger mute. Rebecca Wells
Rebecca Wells (born February 3, 1953) is an American author, actor, and playwright known for the ''Ya-Ya Sisterhood'' series, which includes the books ''Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood'', ''Little Altars Everywhere'', ''Ya-Yas in Bloom'', and ''The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder''. Background Wells was born and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana, where her family owned and ran a cotton farm. She attended Louisiana State University and, after graduating, the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado, where she studied language and consciousness with Allen Ginsberg and Choyyam Trungapa Rinpoche, as well as acting, movement, and voice with members of The Living Theater. She then went to New York City, where she studied the Stanislavski Method of acting. In 1982 she moved to Seattle, Washington, making her home on Bainbridge Island. The "Limerick" is a traditional humorous drinking song with many obscene verses. The tune usually used for sung limericks is traditionally "Cielito Lindo," with the words arranged in the form of a limerick. Mitsou
Mitsou Annie Marie Gélinas (born September 1, 1970, in Loretteville, Quebec) is a Canadian pop singer, businesswoman, television and radio host, and actress. She is credited as Mitsou Gélinas when acting, but records simply as Mitsou (the French spelling of ''Mitsu'', which means honey in Japanese). Biography Born in Loretteville, Quebec, Mitsou is the granddaughter of Quebec actor and playwright Gratien Gélinas. She got involved in acting and modelling as a child notably in the French-Canadian soap opera ''Terre humaine'', but also began to pursue singing in her teenage years. In 1988, she signed with Canadian independent Isba Records and released her first single, "Bye Bye Mon Cowboy" (composed and produced by Jean-Pierre Isaac), which became a pop hit across Canada, an extremely rare feat for a francophone song, in 1989. ''Ya Ya'' is a 2013 Indian Tamil comedy film written and directed by debutant I. Rajasekaran, who was an assistant to Director M. Rajesh. The film stars Shiva, Santhanam, Sandhya and Dhansika. It received 'U/A' certificate from Central Board of Film Certification. The film received negative reviews from critics, but become a decent success at the box office. Plot There are two friends, Ramarajan and Rajkiran, who for reasons unknown, prefer to call themselves Dhoni and Sehwag, respectively.
