Yuriy Makarov
Yuriy Volodymyrovych Makarov (born April 24, 1955, Sofia) is a Ukrainian journalist, TV presenter, documentarian, writer of Russian origin. Until 2009, he was the editor-in-chief, of the magazine "The Ukrainian Week"; in 2017–2019, Makarov was a member of the board of Suspilne, since 2019, he has been the editor-in-chief of Suspilne. Since 2019, he has been the Chairman of the Taras Shevchenko National Award Committee of Ukraine. Honored Journalist of Ukraine. Member of PEN Ukraine. Biography He was born in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, in a family of Russian emigrants. His father is a chemist, a political prisoner in 1973–1978, later moved to France. Mother is a chamber singer, soloist of Ukrkoncert and the Kyiv Philharmonic. Kievnauchfilm (russian: Киевнаучфильм), also Kyivnaukfilm ( uk, Київнаукфільм, translit=Kyïvnaukfil′m), translated as Kyiv Science Film, was a film studio in the former Soviet Union located in Kyiv, Ukrainian SSR. Although it was created in 1941 to produce popular science films, it eventually became best known for its animated films, and remained active in Ukrainian animation for decades. 1+1 ( uk, один плюс один, translit=odyn plyus odyn) is a national Ukrainian language TV channel, owned by 1+1 Media Group. It has the second largest geographic reach of any channel in Ukraine, covering 95% of Ukraine's territory. History 1+1 TV channel was founded in August 1995, headed by its original president Alexander Rodnyansky who also was its general director from 1996 to 2002.
