Yscir With Honddu Isaf And Llanddew
Yscir with Honddu Isaf and Llanddew (formerly known as Yscir) is the name of an electoral ward in southern Powys, Wales. It covers five local government communities and elects a councillor to Powys County Council. Description The Yscir with Honddu Isaf and Llanddew ward covers the sparsely populated communities of Honddu Isaf, Llanddew, Merthyr Cynog, Trallong and Yscir, including the valleys of the Nant Brân, Afon Honddu and Afon Ysgir. The River Usk partly borders the ward to the south. The Llanwrtyd Wells ward borders to the north, Bronllys and Felin-fach to the east, Maescar/Llywel to the west and Talybont-on-Usk to the south. The town of Brecon borders the southeast corner of the ward. According to the 2011 UK Census the population of the Yscir ward was 1,038. Afon Ysgir
The Afon Ysgir is a river which rises on the southern slopes of Mynydd Epynt in Powys, Wales. The tributaries known as Ysgir Fawr and Ysgir Fechan flow past the hamlets of Pont Rhyd-y-berry and Merthyr Cynog to combine at Pont-faen and continue past the village of Battle to join the River Usk at Aberyscir. Its upper reaches are within the military training area of SENTA, the British Army's Sennybridge Training Area. Near its mouth is a motte, the historic church at Aberyscir and east of the river, the Roman fort of CICVCIVM or Brecon Gaer. 2017 Powys County Council Election
The fifth election to the Powys County Council since local government reorganization in Wales in 1995 was held on 4 May 2017, along with other local government elections. It was preceded by the 2012 election and will be followed by the 2022 election. Results overview Sixteen seats were uncontested and, in another seat, Yscir, no one initially stood at all for the seat (the only ward in Wales where this happened). Nine Independent seats, out of the thirty won, were due to only one candidate standing for election. A census of the population of the United Kingdom is taken every ten years. The 2011 census was held in all countries of the UK on 27 March 2011. It was the first UK census which could be completed online via the Internet. Brecon
Brecon (; cy, Aberhonddu; ), archaically known as Brecknock, is a market town in Powys, mid Wales. In 1841, it had a population of 5,701. The population in 2001 was 7,901, increasing to 8,250 at the 2011 census. Historically it was the county town of Brecknockshire (Breconshire); although its role as such was eclipsed with the formation of the County of Powys, it remains an important local centre. Talybont-on-Usk is the name of an electoral ward in the south of Powys, Wales. It covers three local government communities and elects a councillor to Powys County Council. Description The Talybont-on-Usk ward covers the communities of Glyn Tarell, Llanfrynach and Talybont-on-Usk, with the populated areas lying to the north of the ward, south of the town of Brecon. The ward was created by ''The County of Powys (Electoral Arrangements) Order 1998''. Prior to 1998 the ward was called Llanfrynach/Talybont-on-Usk. Llanwrtyd Wells is the name of an electoral ward in mid Powys, Wales. It covers three local government communities and elects a councillor to Powys County Council. Description The Llanwrtyd Wells ward covers the sparsely populated communities of Llanwrtyd Wells, Llangamarch and part of Treflys, including the small town of Llanwrtyd Wells and the villages of Llangammarch Wells and Beulah.
