Amy Correia
Amy Correia (born September 12, 1968) is an American singer and songwriter who grew up in Lakeville, Massachusetts. Biography Correia lived in New York's Chinatown after graduating from Barnard College. She worked in advertising, writing copy by day, while at night honing her songwriting and performing in clubs like Sin-é Cafe on the Lower East Side. A chance meeting with Blind Melon guitarist, Christopher Thorn, who'd stopped by the small club while on tour, led the two to make several recordings which helped Correia eventually sign with Virgin Records. While signed to Virgin Records, Correia recorded an album of songs at Daniel Lanois' Kingsway Studios in New Orleans with Christopher Thorn producing, but the album went unfinished. Correia left Virgin with her master recordings and signed with Capitol/EMI, which released her debut "Carnival Love" in 2000. Correia recorded the album "Lakeville" with her own money. Bob Russell (April 25, 1914 – February 18, 1970) was an American songwriter (mainly lyricist) born Sidney Keith Rosenthal in Passaic, New Jersey. Career Russell attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He worked as an advertising copywriter in New York; for a time, his roommate there was Sidney Sheldon, later a novelist. He turned to writing material for vaudeville acts, and then for film studios, ultimately writing complete scores for two movies: ''Jack and the Beanstalk (1952 film), Jack and the Beanstalk'' and ''Reach for Glory''. The latter film received the Locarno International Film Festival prize in 1962. "You Go Your Way" is a song recorded by American country music artist Alan Jackson. It was released in August 2012 as the third single from Jackson's seventeenth studio album ''Thirty Miles West''. The song was written by David Lee, Tony Lane, and Troy Jones. Critical reception Ben Foster of ''Country Universe'' gave the song an A grade. He writes that, "In structure and theme, "You Go Your Way" bears a moderate resemblance to George Strait’s classic 1993 hit " Easy Come, Easy Go", but with a deeper shade of heartache." He goes on to say, "The lyric is framed in a quietly infectious melody as well as a fiddle and steel-drenched Keith Stegall arrangement that sounds absolutely fantastic. Force West, later known as Shakane, was an English, Bristol-based pop band of the 1960s and 1970s. Formed in 1964, Force West was a five piece pop band from Bristol UK. Originally created from the amalgamation of two local bands, Danny Clarke and the Jaguars and Johnny Dee and the Diatones. Original members were Charlie Dobson (aka Danny Clarke - Lead vocals), John (Sid) Phillips (Drums and Vocals), Adrian Castillo (Guitar and Vocals), John Strange (Bass Guitar and Vocals) and Mike Hewer (Guitar and Vocals). Hewer was replaced by Brian Trusler in 1965. Eight Force West singles were released between 1965 and 1969, but no commercial success was forthcoming. "Go Your Own Way" is a song by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac from their eleventh studio album, '' Rumours'' (1977). ''The Guys'' is a play by Anne Nelson about the aftereffects of the collapse of the World Trade Center. A film version of the play was released in 2002 and starred Sigourney Weaver and Anthony LaPaglia. History In the play, Joan, an editor, helps Nick, a New York Fire Department captain, prepare the eulogies for the eight firefighters who died under his command that day, out of a crew of twelve. The play debuted off-Broadway at The Flea Theater on December 4, 2001, directed by Jim Simpson and starring Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray. Since 2001, ''The Guys'' has been presented in 48 US states and in the Czech Republic, Argentina, Japan, Italy and Poland. Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon presented it at the Edinburgh Festival. Martin Griffiths (born 3 July 1951) is a British diplomat who currently serves as Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations.
