Nancy Priddy is an American actress and singer-songwriter. As an actress, she has appeared on many television series, including ''Bewitched'', ''The Waltons'', and '' Matlock''. She is the mother of actress Christina Applegate. Early life Priddy was born in South Bend, Indiana to Katherina Iona (née Driggs) and Carl C. Priddy. Career In the summers of 1961 and 1962, Priddy performed in musical revues as part of the Party-Liners group at the Peninsula Players theater near Fish Creek, Wisconsin. She was a member of The Bitter End Singers in 1964, a short-lived folksinging group along with Lefty Baker, Tina Bohlmann, Bob Hider, Norris O'Neill, and Vilma Vaccaro. In 1968, she released the album '' You've Come This Way Before'', described by ''Billboard'' as "a minor classic of psychedelic folk" and by an Allmusic reviewer as "an off-the-wall singer/songwriter album drawing from both folk-rock and psychedelia". Psychedelic Folk
Psychedelic folk (sometimes acid folk or freak folk) is a loosely defined form of psychedelia that originated in the 1960s. It retains the largely acoustic instrumentation of folk, but adds musical elements common to psychedelic music. Characteristics Psychedelic folk generally favors acoustic instrumentation although it often incorporates other instrumentation. Chanting, early music and various non-Western folk music influences are often found in psych folk. Dot Records was an American record label founded by Randy Wood (record producer), Randy Wood and Gene Nobles that was active between 1950 and 1978. The original headquarters of Dot Records were in Gallatin, Tennessee. In 1956, the company moved to Hollywood, California. In its early years, Dot specialized in artists from Tennessee. Then it branched out to include musicians from across the U.S. It recorded country music, rhythm and blues, polkas, waltzes, Gospel music, gospel, rockabilly, pop music, pop, and early rock and roll. Philip Ramone (né Rabinowitz, January 5, 1934March 30, 2013) was a South African-born American recording engineer, record producer, violinist and composer, who in 1958 co-founded A & R Recording, Inc., a recording studio with business partner Jack Arnold at 112 West 48th Street, New York, upstairs from the famous musicians' watering hole, Jim & Andy's, and several doors east of Manny's Music. The success of the original A & R Recording allowed it to expand into several studios and a record production company.
