You're On Your Own
''Arrangiatevi!'', internationally released as ''You're on Your Own'', is a List of Italian films of 1959, 1959 Cinema of Italy, Italian comedy film directed by Mauro Bolognini. In 2008 the film was selected to enter the list of the 100 film italiani da salvare, 100 Italian films to be saved. Plot summary Peppino and his family move into a "brothel", i.e. an apartment inhabited by a group of prostitutes in the ancient streets of Rome. One of the girls mysteriously died, and so the house was bought by the family just in time for Peppino, who is forced to share with another family. Because of the gossips of the city and the neighborhood, in a short time Peppino's family falls into disgrace. Peppino, not knowing what to do as a father, comes to discover that his daughter has serious problems with her boyfriend. Mauro Bolognini
Mauro Bolognini (28 June 1922 – 14 May 2001) was an Italian film and stage director of literate sensibility, known for his masterly handling of period subject matter. Early years Bolognini was born in Pistoia, in the Tuscany region of Italy. After earning a master's degree in architecture at the University of Florence, Bolognini enrolled at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Italian National Film Academy) in Rome, where he studied stage design. After graduation, he became interested in film direction and set out to work as an assistant to directors Luigi Zampa in Italy, and Yves Allégret and Jean Delannoy in France. Commedia all'italiana (, pl. Commedie all'italiana, "Comedy in the Italian way") or Italian-style comedy is an Italian film genre born in Italy in the 1950s and developed in the 1960s and 1970s. Luigi De Filippo
Luigi De Filippo (10 August 1930 – 31 March 2018) was an Italian actor, stage director and playwright. Born in Naples, the son of actors Peppino De Filippo and Adele Carloni, he studied literature at the university, leaving the studies on the threshold of graduation to pursue a career in journalism. Shorty later De Filippo debuted on stage next to his father, and from then he started a very long acting career, notably running for years a Neapolitan dialect company. He celebrated the fortieth anniversary of his stage activities with the reception of a special Premio Personalità Europea prize in Capitol Hill. De Filippo appeared in many film roles, even if mainly in character roles. He was also active on television, mainly in television adaptations of his stage works. Since 2011 he has been the artistic director of the Parioli Theatre in Rome. De Filippo died in Rome on 31 March 2018 at the age of 87. Giusi Raspani Dandolo (23 August 1916 – 14 January 2000) was an Italian stage, film, television and radio actress. Achille Majeroni (24 August 1881 – 12 October 1964) was an Italian film actor. Born in Syracuse, Sicily, son of Achille Majeroni and his second wife Graziosa Bignetti, he made his stage debut at age twelve with the Marazzi-Diligenti company.
