You're A Big Boy Now (album)
''You're a Big Boy Now'' is a soundtrack album by the Lovin' Spoonful, released in 1967, containing music from the Francis Ford Coppola film of the same name. Composed entirely by Spoonful member John Sebastian, it contains several songs performed by the band, as well as instrumental music from the film score. It was re-released on CD along with '' What's Up, Tiger Lily?'', the Spoonful's soundtrack for the 1967 Woody Allen film. Reception The songs "Darling Be Home Soon" and "You're a Big Boy Now" were released as singles on the Kama Sutra label. Although the album and title-track single were not popular, "Darling Be Home Soon" was a hit, reaching #15 on the U.S. charts and #8 on the Canadian charts, and inspiring cover versions by many other artists. Music critic William Ruhlmann wrote of the album, "Most of the rest of the score consisted of instrumentals, many augmented by an uncredited orchestra, but Sebastian's title song was also impressive." Darling Be Home Soon
"Darlin' Be Home Soon" (or "Darling Be Home Soon") is a song written by John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful for the soundtrack of the 1966 Francis Ford Coppola film ''You're a Big Boy Now''. It appeared on the Lovin' Spoonful's 1967 soundtrack album ''You're a Big Boy Now''. Sebastian performed his composition at Woodstock; it was the fourth song out of the five he performed at the 1969 music festival in White Lake, New York. Writing and recording Coppola commissioned Sebastian to write music for the film, and for one scene wanted a song with a similar mood and tempo to "Monday, Monday" by the Mamas and the Papas. Sebastian said that he wrote the song as "pleas for a partner to spend a few minutes talking before leaving.... utyou never knew if the other person was actually there listening or was already gone". Heywood "Woody" Allen (born Allan Stewart Konigsberg; November 30, 1935) is an American film director, writer, actor, and comedian whose career spans more than six decades and multiple Academy Award-winning films. ''What's Up, Tiger Lily?'' is a 1966 American comedy film directed by Woody Allen in his feature-length directorial debut. Allen took a Japanese spy film, '' International Secret Police: Key of Keys'' (1965), and overdubbed it with completely original dialogue that had nothing to do with the plot of the original film. By putting in new scenes and rearranging the order of existing scenes, he completely changed the tone of the film from a James Bond clone into a comedy about the search for the world's best egg salad recipe. The Lovin' Spoonful is an American rock band popular during the mid- to late-1960s. Founded in New York City in 1965 by lead singer/songwriter John Sebastian and guitarist Zal Yanovsky, the band is widely known for a number of hits, including " Summer in the City", " Do You Believe In Magic", " Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?", and "Daydream".
