York South (New Brunswick Provincial Electoral District)
York South was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. It was formed in 1974 when the former multi-member electoral district of York County was split into York North and York South. New Brunswick Electoral Redistribution, 1973
The 1973 New Brunswick electoral redistribution was the most radical redistribution of electoral districts in the history of New Brunswick, Canada. Under this redistribution, New Brunswick changed from a mixture of multi-member districts and single-member districts to a scheme of only single-member districts, from bloc voting electoral system to first past the post. As the number of members per district had been re-evaluated as recently as 1967, the number of members was not changed, and multi-member districts were simply subdivided to form single-member districts. Prior to the redistribution, New Brunswick had had the longest and deepest experience of multi-member districts of any province in Canada. Fredericton South (french: Fredericton-Sud) is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. It was first contested in the 2014 general election, having been created in the 2013 redistribution of electoral boundaries by combining portions of the former districts of Fredericton-Lincoln and Fredericton-Silverwood. Danny Cameron (politician)
Daniel Ernest Cameron (1924 – 12 April 2009) was the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada, from 1991 to 1995, as leader of the New Brunswick Confederation of Regions Party, a conservative political party. Career Cameron was born in 1924 at Osgoode, Ontario, the son of James W. Cameron and Euphemia Madden. Cameron represented the riding of York South. He had previously assisted the former Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament as his chief of staff for many years. Cameron served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. He was viewed by many of the more hardline CoR members as being too soft on the issues. New Maryland-Sunbury is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. History It was created in 1994 as a totally new district taking in large parts of York South and Sunbury as well as small pieces of several other districts. In the 2006 redistribution of districts, it lost the community of Lincoln due to the rapid growth of both Lincoln and the village of New Maryland, both bedroom communities for Fredericton. The 1994 New Brunswick electoral redistribution was the first re-alignment of electoral districts in New Brunswick, Canada, since 1973. Under this redistribution, several districts were changed significantly due to considerable population shifts from the northern part of the province to the south. The total number of districts was reduced from 58 to 55. Due to considerable population shifts over the course of two decades, some ridings were merged, while others were split in two, and some were unchanged. York (provincial Electoral District)
Carleton-York is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. It was contested for the first time in the 2014 general election. It was created in the 2013 redistribution of electoral boundaries. The district draws its population from the northwestern parts of York County and southern parts of Carleton County, the boundaries commission proposed it be named "York" which might have been confused with its immediate predecessor of the same name which was based in southwestern York County. The two districts share only about 12% of population in common. Accordingly, a committee of the legislative assembly changed the name to Carleton-York before the district could be contested.
