Yirrmal Songs
Yirrmal Marika (born 1993), known mononymously Yirrmal, is an Indigenous Australian vocalist. A Yolngu man, his music features traditional sounds and elements of Yolŋu music. Early life Yirrmal Marika was born in 1993 in Yirrkala in the Rirratjingu clan and began learning music at age 11. Personal life Yirrmal's father Witiyana Marika was a singer and dancer in Yothu Yindi and is related to Dr Gurrumul Yunupingu on his mother's side. Yirrmal cites his grandfather and former lead singer of Yothu Yindi, Dr Yunupingu as his biggest influence saying "He was my inspiration since I was a kid. He did great things for all Australians. There are a lot of other Indigenous people that I look up to also – people such as Archie Roach, Gurrumul, Saltwater Band, Dan Sultan, Jessica Mauboy and Rrawun Maymuru. Yirrkala
Yirrkala is a small community in East Arnhem Region, Northern Territory, Australia, southeast of the large mining town of Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory, Nhulunbuy, on the Gove Peninsula in Arnhem Land. Its population comprises predominantly Aboriginal Australians of the Yolngu people, and it is also home to a number of Mission Aviation Fellowship pilots and engineers based in Arnhem Land, providing air transport services. "Marryuna" ( en, "Let's Dance") is a song by Australian musician Baker Boy featuring Yirrmal, released independently on 6 October 2017. The song ranked at number 17 in Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2017. At the AIR Awards of 2018, the Baker Boy won Breakthrough Independent Artist with "Marryuna", while the song was nominated for Best Independent Single or EP. At the Music Victoria Awards of 2018 "Marryuna" won Best Song. At the National Indigenous Music Awards 2018, the song was nominated for Best Song, while the video won Film Clip of the Year. Neil Murray (Australian Musician)
Neil James Murray (born 1956) is an Australian musician, singer-songwriter-guitarist and writer. He was a founding member of the Warumpi Band (1980–88, 1995–2000) which was the first major influential Aboriginal rock group with mostly Indigenous members. Murray was recognised as one of Australia's foremost songwriters at the APRA Awards of 1995 by winning Song of the Year for " My Island Home". Murray has had a solo career since 1989 and had issued eight studio albums by 2014. Murray regularly performed throughout Australia, either with a backing band, The Rainmakers, or solo. He undertook a series of performances with Shane Howard (ex-Goanna), as 2songmen from 2006 to 2007. Andrew Charles Farriss (born 27 March 1959) is an Australian rock musician and multi-instrumentalist best known as the keyboardist, backing vocalist, and main composer for rock band INXS. Farriss released his debut studio album in 2021. Dami Im ( , , ; born October 17, 1988) is a South Korean-born Australian singer and songwriter.
