Yi Jong-geon
Yi Jong-geon (Hangul: 이종건, Hanja: 李鍾健 1843–1930) was a lieutenant-general of the Imperial Korean Army. He was ennobled as Baron of Japan during the Korea under Japanese rule. After March 1st Movement, Yi tried to return his title but he failed. Life He was born in 1843 as the son of Yi Gue-jeong and was adopted to Yi Gue-cheol. In 1859, Yi passed the Imperial examination of military. During the Imo Incident, Yi executed some culprits related to the incident. For this merit, Yi rose his rank under the reign of Empress Myeongseong. He worked with Bak Jeongyang and Kim Hong-jip but had conflicts with them. After Gojong returned from the Russian legation, Yi became in charge of safety and attendant: he served as the commander of police, and Mayor of Seoul. On 1 October 1897, Yi was promoted to Lieutenant general, and appointed as minister of military of Shim Soon-taek cabinet. Kingdom Of Joseon
Joseon (; ; Middle Korean: 됴ᇢ〯션〮 Dyǒw syéon or 됴ᇢ〯션〯 Dyǒw syěon), officially the Great Joseon (; ), was the last dynastic kingdom of Korea, lasting just over 500 years. It was founded by Yi Seong-gye in July 1392 and replaced by the Korean Empire in October 1897. The kingdom was founded following the aftermath of the overthrow of Goryeo in what is today the city of Kaesong. Early on, Korea was retitled and the capital was relocated to modern-day Seoul. The kingdom's northernmost borders were expanded to the natural boundaries at the rivers of Amrok and Tuman through the subjugation of the Jurchens. Order Of The Palgwae
Order of the Palgwae was an order of chivalry of the Korean Empire that was given to military personnels and officials. It was established on 16 April 1901. The order was divided into eight classes. Form Order of the Palgwae had eight gwaes in the middle. For 1st classes, it had daesu. Width of the daesu was about 11.4 cm. 2nd class, it had medal with the daesu. Medal's perimeter was about 9 cm. Perimeter of 3rd class was about 5.4cm. 3rd class and 4th class was the same but the shape of ring was different. 5th class was same as 4th class but, the perimeter was 4.5cm. 6th to 8th class was the same as 5th class but they were made of silver. Jeonju Yi Clan
The Jeonju Yi clan () is a Korean clan with the surname Yi. Their Bon-gwan is in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province. The clan includes the former House of Yi which ruled the Joseon dynasty and the Korean Empire. Their founder was Yi Han (). His descendant, Yi Seong-gye, seized power in a military coup and founded Joseon in 14th century. Gwon Jung-hyeon (politician)
Gwon Jung-hyeon (November 27, 1854 – March 19, 1934), also spelled Kwon Jung-hyun ( ko, 권중현) was an Imperial Korean Lieutenant General and Politician. He was the Minister of Justice from 1899 to 1910 and the Minister of Agriculture, Commerce and Industry from 1905 to 1910. He is best known for being one of the Five Eulsa Traitors who signed the Eulsa Treaty of 1905 which made Korea a protectorate of Japan. Because of his invovlvement in the Treaty, he was a unpopular figure in Korea and faced an assassination attempt in 1907 by an assassination group lead by . Yi Yun-yong (; 5 September 1855 – 8 September 1938) was an Imperial Korean official and general. He is considered as a collaborator to Imperial Japan or Chinilpa. Biography Yi was born on in Pyongyang. He was posted to Yijo as a member of Don-Nyeong Bu in 1868. A year after, Yi appointed as Byeolgunjik, then Minister of Economy in 1894. Same year, he was appointed as the chief of police. During his term, he oppressed Yi Jun-yong's coup, making Heungseon Daewongun to despise him. Yi was one of those who rose to high position despite being a seoeol.
