Yew Tree, West Bromwich
The Yew Tree Estate is a residential area of Walsall and West Bromwich located at the border with both Sandwell and the Walsall Borough in the West Midlands County, England. The Sandwell Ward is called Great Barr with Yew Tree with which at the 2011 census had a population of 12,597. The area compromises of housing, small shops, a church, a community centre and healthcare centre. Local Facilities Yew Tree has a large amount of common land, as well as a community centre, health centre and play area by the local row of shops on Redwood Road. Currently on this row of shops are two convenience stores, a computer repair shop, a chip shop, fruit and veg store, a takeout cafe, hairdressers, a barbers and a chemist. There is also a pub on Thorncroft Way which has altered from its original name of 'The Archers to The Orchard and now is currently using its original name of 'The Archers'. Operation Yewtree
Operation Yewtree was a British police investigation into sexual abuse allegations, predominantly the abuse of children, against the English media personality Jimmy Savile and others. The investigation, led by the Metropolitan Police Service (Met), started in October 2012. After a period of assessment, it became a full criminal investigation, involving inquiries into living people, notably other celebrities, as well as Savile. The report of the investigations into the activities of Savile himself was published, as ''Giving Victims a Voice'', in January 2013. Operation Yewtree continued as an investigation into others, some but not all linked with Savile. By October 2015, 19 people had been arrested by Operation Yewtree; seven of these arrests led to convictions. Yew Mountains
The Yew Mountains are a mountain ridge in Southern West Virginia that locally forms the boundary between the Allegheny Plateau to the northwest and the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians to the southeast. It is part of the Allegheny Mountains, and contains some of the highest peaks in West Virginia. Its highest point is at Red Spruce Knob near its northern edge, named for the stand of red spruce at its summit, which is also the highest point of the Highland Scenic Highway, and the ninth highest peak in West Virginia. Other peaks include Black Mountain, Jacox Knob, Briery Knob, and Blue Knob. The Cranberry Wilderness of Monongahela National Forest, and the Yew Mountain Center, are within the range. There is a proposal to create a Birthplace of Rivers National Monument in the area. Yew Lian Park () is a private residential estate situated along Upper Thomson Road in Bishan, Singapore. The estate comprises semi-detached houses and terraced houses with two bungalows. The estate was named after the development company that built the estate in the early sixties, the Yew Lian Company. Completion of development was in 1966, but residents had started to move in from late 1964, when Phase 1 was completed. The estate is bounded by Lakeview Private Housing Estate, the Central Catchment Area and Thomson Ridge Estate. There are only two roads in the estate, Jalan Pelatina and Taman Permata. Yew Tee MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North South line in Choa Chu Kang, Singapore, located at Choa Chu Kang Drive near the junction of Choa Chu Kang North 6 and Choa Chu Kang Street 62. Yew Tee station is named after an expunged village that once stood in the area. The station primarily serves Neighbourhoods 5 to 7 of Choa Chu Kang New Town as well as Sungei Kadut Industrial Estate. Yew Tee is a residential area in the West Region of Singapore. Yew Tee is a cluster of Housing and Development Board flats and private condominums, As a relatively new estate, a large proportion of its residents are young families and middle income earners. Etymology and history Yew Tee is originally a village off Woodlands Road. During the Japanese Occupation of Singapore, oil was stored in the village and the village became known as Yew Tee ("oil pond" in Teochew). The village used to have more than 300 families residing there which consists mostly of farmers growing vegetables and rearing ducks and chickens.
