''Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass'' ( vi, Tôi thấy hoa vàng trên cỏ xanh) is a 2015 Vietnamese film. It was adapted from the novel of the same name by Nguyễn Nhật Ánh. It was directed by Victor Vũ and produced by Galaxy Media & Entertainment Saigon Concert, Phương Nam Film, PS Việt Nam and K+ Television channel. It was premiere in Cannes Film Festival 2015 and released in theaters on 2 October 2015. It was selected as the Vietnamese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards but it was not nominated. On December 5 during the 19th Vietnam Film Festival, the movie was awarded the golden lotus (the most-honored award given to a Vietnamese movie). Victor Vũ
Victor Vu (; born November 25, 1975) is a Vietnamese-American film director, writer and producer. Along with critical acclaims, news media and public opinion have also accused Vu of plagiarism. In Vietnam's landmark first official plagiarism investigation, Vietnamese regulators found Vu's film ''Inferno'' to have copied Hollywood's 1991 film ''Shattered (1991 film), Shattered''. This resulted in ''Inferno's'' disqualification from Vietnam's Golden Kite Awards. Vu called a press conference to try misinform Vietnamese public that in Hollywood, such identical similarities are the obligatory result of using Hollywood filmmaking method. This is a list of submissions to the 89th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. The submitted motion pictures must be first released theatrically in their respective countries between 1 October 2015 and 30 September 2016. The deadline for submissions was 3 October 2016, with the Academy announcing a list of eligible films on 11 October. The Vietnam Film Festival ( Vietnamese: Liên hoan phim Việt Nam), founded in 1970, is a domestic film festival of Vietnam. It is considered as the major event of Cinema of Vietnam with awards for numerous categories ranging from feature film to documentary film, animated film. Nguyễn Nhật Ánh (born May 7, 1955) is a Vietnamese author who writes for teenagers and adults. He also works as a teacher, poet and correspondent. His works include approximately 30 novels, 4 essays, 2 series and some collections of poems. He is regarded as one of Vietnam's most successful writers. His best-known series, ''Kính Vạn Hoa'' (Kaleidoscope), which contains 54 volumes, has been made into 3 drama series of the same name. Biography Nguyễn Nhật Ánh was born in 1955 in Quảng Nam province, Vietnam. At an early age, he attended Tiểu La, Trần Cao Vân and Phan Chu Trinh schools. In 1973, he moved to Sài Gòn to pursue a teaching career. After graduating from Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University, he was a teacher and a member of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union.
