Yazidis In Syria
Yazidis in Syria refer to people born in or residing in Syria who adhere to Yazidism, a strictly endogamous religion. Yazidis speak the Kurdish language of Kurmanji. Although some are scattered in Turkey and the Armenia, Iraq is the center of their religious life, the home of their Amir, and of the tomb of their most revered saint, Sheikh Adi. Yazidis in Syria live primarily in two communities, one in the Al-Jazira area and the other in the Kurd-Dagh. Population numbers for the Syrian Yazidi community are unclear. In 1963, the community was estimated at about 10,000, according to the national census, but numbers for 1987 were unavailable. There may be between about 12,000 and 15,000 Yazidis in Syria today. Kurmanji
Kurmanji ( ku, کورمانجی, lit=Kurdish, translit=Kurmancî, also termed Northern Kurdish, is the northern dialect of the Kurdish languages, spoken predominantly in southeast Turkey, northwest and northeast Iran, northern Iraq, northern Syria and the Caucasus and Khorasan regions. It is the most widely spoken form of Kurdish. The earliest textual record of Kurmanji Kurdish dates back to approximately the 16th century and many prominent Kurdish poets like Ehmedê Xanî (1650–1707) wrote in this dialect. A genocide of Yazidis by the Islamic State was carried out in the Sinjar area of northern Iraq in the mid-2010s. The genocide led to the expulsion, flight and effective exile of the Yazidis. Ibrahim Khalil (, May 5, 2000, Al-Hasakah, Syria) a Yazidi singer and songwriter. Biography Ibrahim Khalil was born on May 5, 2000, in Al-Hasakah in the Syrian Arab Republic in a family of musicians. He made his first musical steps at the age of 9. At the age of 11 he began to study music in Al-Haskaha music school. Ibrahim has been living in Germany since 2012. He attended the Clemens-Brentano European School there. Musical career Ibrahim Khalil released the first music video in 2012 entitled "Beje beje". Later the singer released the songs "Heyo" and "Bivinm". Ibrahim Khalil is also a songwriter. He wrote songs for Yezidi singers Jangir Broyan and Arthur Safoyan.
