Yakyū-kyō No Uta
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Shinji Mizushima. It follows Yūki Mizuhara, a young woman who wants to do veterinary medicine at college but instead she became a baseball player. It was originally serialized in the Kodansha's Japanese manga magazine ''Weekly Shōnen Magazine'' between 1972 and 1976, and has been adapted into several spin-off manga, a live-action film, an anime television series, an anime film, and a Japanese television drama. In 1973, it received the 4th Kōdansha Literature Culture Award for children's manga. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. Yuki Saito (actress)
Yuki Saito ( ja, 斉藤 由貴, Saitō Yuki; born September 10, 1966 in Minami-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture) is a Japanese actress, singer and narrator. Kei Tani
(born Yasuo Watanabe (渡部 泰雄, Watanabe Yasuo) ; 22 February 1932 – 11 September 2010) was a Japanese comedian, actor and musician. Born in Tokyo, he learned to play the trombone and, while a student at Chuo University, began playing in jazz bands performing for American soldiers during the Occupation of Japan. Katsuya Nomura
was a Japanese Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) catcher and manager. During his over 26-season playing career mostly spent with the Nankai Hawks (now the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks), he became one of NPB's greatest offensive catchers. He was awarded the Pacific League MVP Award five times, became the first NPB batter to win the Triple Crown in 1965, and holds the record for second-most home runs and RBIs in NPB history. Nomura was a player-manager for the last eight years he was with the Hawks, leading them to the Pacific League title in 1973.
