The York County School Division or YCSD is a school division ( school district) in York County, Virginia, United States. The division consists of approximately 12,750 students in 19 schools, of which there are 10 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 4 high schools, and 1 charter school. The division employs about 1,050 instructional staff members and over 730 support staff members. Governance York County School Division is run by a five-member School Board of elected officials, one from each of the county's five election districts. York High School is a York County School Division high school located in Yorktown in York County, Virginia, on U.S. Route 17 about 3 miles south of Yorktown. The school was opened in 1954 and currently enrolls over one thousand students. Athletic teams compete in the Virginia High School League's AA Bay Rivers District in Region I. The school is the home of the school division's television station and offers television production courses in the curriculum. Tabb High School is a public high school for located in Tabb, an unincorporated community in southern York County, Virginia, United States. It is part of the York County School Division. The school opened in 1972 and is located near the site of one of the first land battles of the Civil war, the Battle of Big Bethel. Grafton High School is a public high school located in Grafton, an unincorporated section of York County, Virginia. It is part of the York County School Division. The school opened on September 3, 1996 and shares a facility with Grafton Middle School, the only shared facility of this type in the Hampton Roads area, and the largest building in York County at the time of its construction. Athletic teams compete in the Virginia High School League's AA Bay Rivers, District, and in Region I. Grafton High School was awarded a silver medal by ''U.S. News & World Report'' in the 2008 America’s Best High Schools search.
