Y. N. Jayarathna
Rear Admiral Y. N. Jayarathna, RWP, RSP, USP is a retired Sri Lankan admiral and hydrographer. He served as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy and Joint chief Hydrographer to the Government of Sri Lanka, former Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy and Commanding Officer, 4th Fast Attack Flotilla. Education Jayarathna was educated at the Royal College Colombo, where he was a senior cadets when the cadet contingent won the Herman Loos Challenge Cup. Naval career Early career Having joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1986 as an Officer Cadet, Jayarathna received his basic training at the Naval and Maritime Academy, where he topped his batch winning the Sword of Honour and was selected for the International Midshipman Course at Britannia Royal Naval College from 1988 to 1989. The Dvora-class fast patrol boat is a fast class of patrol boats built by Israel Aerospace Industries for the Israeli Sea Corps based on the Israeli . Operational history Sri Lanka The Dvora class has become the work horse of the Sri Lanka Navy which has deployed it since the mid-1980s to counter LTTE operations at sea. PLA National Defence University
The People's Liberation Army National Defence University () is a Beijing-based national military university administered by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and funded by the Central Military Commission. The university is the highest military academy in China and the "only comprehensive joint command university" in the PLA. The current president of the university is PLA general Xu Xueqiang. The university was formed in 1985 with the merger of parts of the PLA Military Academy, the PLA Political Academy, and the PLA Logistics Academy. Originally commissioned by the United States Coast Guard in 1968 as the medium endurance cutter USCGC ''Courageous'', she was donated to Sri Lanka in 2004 and commissioned on February 19, 2005.
