Xu Yafen
Xu Yafen ( zh, s=徐亚芬, hp=Xú Yàfēn) is a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) politician and university administrator. She is a member of the 11th CCP Conference of Zhejiang Province and chair of the board of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, a partnership with the British University of Nottingham, and chair of the Chinese Zhejiang Wanli University. Xu is also a visiting professor at Tsinghua University and a research fellow at the Human Science Institute of the Chinese Academy of Management Science. In 2017 she was honoured by the University of Nottingham, who named a building at their Jubilee Campus after her. Biography Xu joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 1981. Zhejiang Province
Zhejiang ( or , ; , also romanized as Chekiang) is an eastern, coastal province of the People's Republic of China. Its capital and largest city is Hangzhou, and other notable cities include Ningbo and Wenzhou. Zhejiang Wanli University (), formerly the Ningbo Branch of Zhejiang Agricultural University (), is a private college in Ningbo, Zhejiang, China. Jubilee Campus
The University of Nottingham operates from four campuses in Nottinghamshire and from two overseas campuses, one in Ningbo, China and the other in Semenyih, Malaysia. The Ningbo campus was officially opened on 23 February 2005 by the then British Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, in the presence of Chinese education minister Zhou Ji and State Counsellor Chen Zhili. The Malaysia campus was the first purpose-built UK university campus in a foreign country and was officially opened by Najib Tun Razak on 26 September 2005. Wanli Education Group (WEG) is situated in the city of Ningbo in Zhejiang province, near Shanghai. About the Group In June 1993, WEG took over an engineer school on the verge of bankruptcy and established an international school whose offer ranges from kindergarten to higher education. In a decade or so, due to a rapidly increasing demand, WEG reached an enrollment level of 24,000 students, with a teaching and administrative staff of 2,100 people. Using a land surface of 3000 mu (200 hectares), WEG built a surface area of 1 million square meters.
