Xootr
Xootr (pronounced "zoo-ter") is a manufacturer of folding kick scooters and was formerly a seller of folding bicycles. Xootr scooters are characterized by 180 mm wheels with aluminum hubs, and a hand brake for the front wheel (for the rear on old models). One defining feature of Xootr scooters is the relatively large wheels they are equipped with, as well as the hinge system, which uses a pin. Xootr scooters were originally introduced in 1999 by Nova Cruz Products. Since 2003, the Xootr scooter has been manufactured and sold by Xootr LLC. Manufacturer Xootr began when Karl Ulrich, Nathan Ulrich, and Tom Miner (along with partners Lunar Design and Cheskin Research, and several other investors) founded Nova Cruz Products. Swift Folder
The Swift Folder is a folding bicycle, designed by Peter Reich of Design Mobility Inc. of Brooklyn, New York, in collaboration with Jan VanderTuin of the Center for Appropriate Transport in Eugene, Oregon. The Swift Folder is available from Design Mobility as a bare frame for customers to build up themselves, or assembled into a complete bicycle to the customer's requirements. From 2004 to the end of 2016, a mass-market version of the bicycle was sold under license by Xootr as the Xootr Swift, fully assembled to a standard specification, in single and 8-speed models. Folding System The Swift Folder design employs a vertical folding method, using the seat-post and a split seat-tube as the locking mechanism. To fold, the seat-post is released from the two parts of the seat-tube by their respective quick release clamps, then pulled up into the upper part of the seat-tube to unlock the frame. The Razor Scooter is a compact folding scooter developed by Micro Mobility Systems and manufactured by JD Corporation. Over 5 million units were sold in the six months following the launch of the first Razor scooter in 2000, and it was named as ''Toy of the Year'' that same year. The first electric Razor scooter was released in 2003. Today, the Razor is manufactured by RazorUSA, based in Cerritos, California, in the United States. The Soap Box Derby is a youth soapbox car racing program which has been run in the United States since 1933. World Championship finals are held each July at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio. Center For Appropriate Transport
The Center for Appropriate Transport (CAT) is a non-profit community center dedicated to bicycles and alternative transport located in Eugene, Oregon, United States. CAT holds publicly funded educational workshops for teaching youth from ages 12 to 21. Within the facility there is a public bicycle repair workspace and a bike machine-shop for the design and manufacture of special-purpose bikes, particularly cargo bikes and recumbents. There is also a bike museum on site, a bike rack-building workshop, and a sewing facility. CAT formerly held the offices of ''Oregon Cycling'' magazine, which ceased publishing in 2009.
