Xinjiang University
Xinjiang University (XJU) ( ug, شىنجاڭ ئۇنىۋېرستېتى, ; zh , s = 新疆大学 , p = Xīnjiāng Dàxué ) is one of the major universities in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, People's Republic of China and is a national key university. Established in 1924 in Ürümqi, Xinjiang University is a comprehensive university with the highest academic level in Xinjiang, under Double First Class University Plan and former Project 211. It is a Chinese state Class B Double First Class University identified by the Ministry of Education. Establishment and location In 1924, Xinjiang Russian and Law School was founded, which is known as the former school of Xinjiang University. In 1935, it was converted to Xinjiang College. Wushour Silamu
Wushour Silamu or Wushour Slamu (; ; born 15 October 1941), is a Chinese computer scientist of Uyghur nationality. He is a professor at Xinjiang University in Ürümqi and specializes in multilingual computing, especially with reference to the Uyghur language and other minority languages of Xinjiang. Biography Wushour was born in Yining, Xinjiang in 1941 and graduated from the Department of Physics at Xinjiang University in June 1964. He has held positions at Xinjiang University as vice-chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering and chair of the Department of Computing and is currently director of the Xinjiang Multilingual Information Processing Key Laboratory (). Ibrahim Muti'i
Ibrahim Muti'i (May 1920 – January 13, 2010) ( ug, ئىبراھىم مۇتىئى; ) was a well-known linguist from Xinjiang, China. He is best known for his research on Uyghur language and culture. He is considered to have been one of the top scholars of his generation in Uyghur. Early life Muti'i was born in May 1920, in ''Lükchün'', a small village outside Turpan in eastern Xinjiang. He was orphaned at an early age. His father, a tailor, died when he was only two years old. His mother died when he was seven. His family sent him to Urumqi to enroll in a primary school in 1928, which he did while living with his uncle. Jadid Tatars taught Ibrahim. In 1935, at the age of fifteen, Ibrahim Muti'i received a scholarship for a two-year course of study in law at the University of Central Asia in Tashkent, in the Soviet Union. Yang Gang (; born January 1953) is a former Chinese politician. Between 2010 and 2013 Yang served as the deputy director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ). Between 1999 and 2010, he was a top regional official in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, serving first as the Communist Party Secretary of regional capital Urumqi and then Deputy Secretary of the Xinjiang regional Party Committee. Tashpolat Tiyip
Tashpolat Tiyip ( ug, تاشپولات تېيىپ, Tashpolat Téyip; zh, c=塔西甫拉提・特依拜, p=tǎxīfǔlātí tèyībài; born December 1958) is a Chinese geographer of Uyghur ethnicity who was president of Xinjiang University from 2010 to 2017. He was sentenced to death in a secret trial. Biography Tashpolat enrolled at Xinjiang University in 1978 to study geography and graduated in 1983. In 1988, he went to Japan to study for a master's degree and PhD at Tokyo University of Science, where he received a Doctorate of Engineering in Applied Geography in March 1992.
