Xing Wen
Xing Wen, or Wen Xing (Chinese: 邢文; pinyin: Xíng Wén; Wade-Giles: Wen Hsing; born 1965) is a Chinese scholar and researcher in Chinese art, archaeology, and classical Chinese studies. He is Robert 1932 and Barbara Black Professor in Asian Studies, Emeritus, and Professor of Asian Societies, Cultures, and Languages, Emeritus at Dartmouth College. Life and education Xing Wen was born in 1965. He attended the Nanjing College of Food Economy, current Nanjing University of Finance and Economics as an undergraduate student, graduating in 1986 with a B.A. in Economics, after which he taught planning and statistics courses at the college for a few years. He then went to Nanjing Normal University for graduate study and obtained his M.A. in Chinese art history in 1992. Xing (surname)
Xing (Chinese: 邢) is a Chinese surname. There are two hypothesized sources for the extant catalogue of surnames: 1. According to the ''Yuanhe Xing Zuan'', Xing is originated from Ji ( 姬), the royal family of Zhou Dynasty in China. The fourth son of the Duke of Zhou, was appointed the ruler of the State of Xing (now Xingtai city of Hebei Province). The year 662 BC saw the State of Xing taken over by the State of Wei, and the noble descendants entitled themselves their former state name as their surnames. 2. The ''I Ching'' or ''Yi Jing'' (, ), usually translated ''Book of Changes'' or ''Classic of Changes'', is an ancient Chinese divination text that is among the oldest of the Chinese classics. Originally a divination manual in the Western Zhou period (1000750), the ''I Ching'' was transformed over the course of the Warring States and early imperial periods (500200) into a cosmological text with a series of philosophical commentaries known as the "Ten Wings". Manuscriptology
Manuscriptology is another word for codicology, namely the study of history and literature through the use of hand-written documents. The term is in use particularly among scholars of South Asian cultural history because many South Asian manuscripts are not codices in the strict sense of the word. That is to say, South Asian manuscripts are typically written on unbound sheets of paper or palm leaves, in a landscape format. Vellum or parchment - typical writing material used in the European codex - are not used in India since the introduction of leather - the material used for vellum or parchment - are considered impure in Indian traditions There are exceptions.
