Xiangxue Pharmaceutical (football)
Xiangxue Pharmaceutical was the name of several teams from mainland China that played in Hong Kong First Division League; they were all sponsored by Xiangxue Pharmaceutical. History In 2001–02 season, , a youth football club from Zhaoqing, entered the Hong Kong First Division League. It was replaced by the reserve team of Guangzhou F.C. in 2002–03 season, which was also sponsored by Xiangxue Pharmaceutical since January 2002, as Guangzhou Xiangxue. It became the name for the reserve team of another Chinese football club Hunan Shoking that was intended to play in 2004–05 Hong Kong First Division League. After the team withdrew at the start of season, "Hong Kong 10", a youth team that was organized by the Hong Kong Football Association, as well as other football club, lent several youth players to Xiangxue Pharmaceutical in order to make the team to finish 2004–05 season. Xiangxue Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. also known as XPH, is a Chinese pharmaceutical company. It was headquartered in Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, Guangzhou, the capital of the Guangdong Province. The company started in a place that near to the tourist spot (now in the Luogang Subdistrict, Huangpu District), thus called itself Xiangxue (). Xiangxue Pharmaceutical was a constituent of SZSE 200 Index (mid-cap index), but was removed in January 2017; it was inserted to SZSE 700 Index (small-cap index) instead at the same time. Hong Kong First Division League
The Hong Kong First Division League () is the second-highest division in the Hong Kong football league system. Established in 1908, it is the third oldest in Asia. The league was formerly the highest division in Hong Kong until the formation of the Hong Kong Premier League in 2014. Since 1908, a total of 29 clubs have been crowned champions of the Hong Kong football system. South China are the most successful club, having won 41 times since their first participation in 1941. Competition format Each team plays the other teams in the division twice, one home and one away game. The ticket profits go to the home team. If there are two matches in the same stadium on the day, the profits are shared between the two home teams. The top two teams in the league are offered promotion to the Premier League while the bottom two are relegated to the Hong Kong Second Division. Zhaoqing (), alternately romanized as Shiuhing, is a prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province, China. As of the 2020 census, its population was 4,113,594, with 1,553,109 living in the built-up (or metro) area made of Duanzhou, Dinghu and Gaoyao. The club has a long history in playing in the top flight, but decided to self-relegate in the 2013–14 season after declining to participate in the newly established Hong Kong Premier League.
