Xavier De Maistre (harpist)
Xavier de Maistre (born October 22, 1973) is a French harpist. Early life Maistre began studying the harp in his hometown conservatory in Toulon at the age of nine. Later he travelled to Paris to perfect his technique with Jacqueline Borot and Catherine Michel parallel to studying Political Sciences and Economics at the London School of Economics. Career At the age of sixteen, Maistre won his first international competition in Paris, later winning awards at international competitions held in Cardiff, Munich, Vienna and Jerusalem. In 1998, he was awarded first prize and two interpretation prizes at the USA International Harp Competition. Later that same year, Maistre became the first French musician to join the ranks of the prestigious Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Walter Weller
Walter Weller (30 November 1939 – 14 June 2015) was an Austrian-born conductor and classical violinist. He made several recordings over the years, founded his own string quartet. and led/co-led several well known orchestras and operas. Weller won multiple awards throughout his lifetime. Life Weller was born in Vienna, Austria, where he began taking violin lessons at the age of six. He went on to study at the Vienna Hochschule für Musik and first gained renown as a prodigy on the violin. His father, also named Walter Weller, was a violinist in the Vienna Philharmonic. At age 17, Weller became a member of both the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera Orchestras. In 1961, at age 22, he became joint concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic with Willi Boskovsky, and remained in this post for 11 years. Anne Gastinel
Anne Gastinel is a French cellist and professor. She was born on October 14, 1971, in the town of Tassin-la-Demi-Lune. Tassin-la-Demi-Lune is in the south east of France close to Lyon. She has three sisters and one brother. Both of her parents are musicians and passed their passion down to their children. Her father composes pieces and her mother plays the piano. Her musical career started at the age of four when she began playing one of her sister's cellos as well as began studying the piano and oboe. Her first televised concert with an orchestra was at the age of ten where she was a soloist (1981). One year after her televised solo, Gastinel entered the Lyons Conservatory School to begin her formal music education. Ingolf Turban (born 17 March 1964) is a German violinist. Life Born in Munich, Turban's mother was a pianist, his father a music-loving physician, his sister Dietlinde_Turban, Dietlinde an actress. At the age of 12 he was accepted into the violin class of in Munich. He also attended courses in the US with Jens Ellermann and Dorothy DeLay. Kathleen Deanna Battle (born August 13, 1948) is an American operatic soprano known for her distinctive vocal range and tone. Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, Battle initially became known for her work within the concert repertoire through performances with major orchestras during the early and mid-1970s. The (RMF) is an international summer music festival in Germany, founded in 1987. It is mostly for classical music, but includes other genres. The Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival is a classical music festival held each summer throughout the state of Schleswig-Holstein in Northern Germany.
