Xavier Henry
Xavier Henry (; born March 15, 1991) is an American former professional basketball player. He played one year of college basketball with the Kansas Jayhawks before he was drafted in the 2010 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. Henry's brother, C. J., was a 2005 MLB first-round draft pick and returned to college after playing three years of minor-league baseball in the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies organizations. The brothers' father, Carl, played basketball at Kansas in the 1980s and their mother played basketball for the Kansas women's team. High school career Henry was named to the 2009 McDonald's All-American Game where he scored 14 points. Henry was also selected to play in the 2009 Nike Hoop Summit at the Rose Garden in Portland where he led Team USA with 22 points including six 3-pointers and the Jordan Brand Classic at Madison Square Garden where he scored 10 points for the white team. Kansas Jayhawks Men's Basketball
The Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball program is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Kansas. The program is classified in the NCAA's Division I and the team competes in the Big 12 Conference. Kansas is considered one of the most prestigious college basketball programs in the country with six overall national championships (4 NCAA Tournament championships and 2 Helms national championships), as well being runner-up six times and having the most conference titles in the nation. Kansas is the all-time consecutive conference titles record holder with 14 consecutive titles, a streak that ran from 2005 through 2018. Nike Hoop Summit
The Nike Hoop Summit is an international men's basketball all-star game sponsored by Nike, held once a year since 1995, except from 2001–2003, which features the USA Basketball Men's Junior Select Team against a World Select Team of international players. The players demonstrate their skills and hope to attract attention from either NBA scouts or colleges. A number of current NBA players have participated in this event in the past. In the 2010 edition of the event, Enes Kanter scored 34 points and surpassed the event's record of 33 points set by Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. In 2012, Shabazz Muhammad scored 35 points to break Kanter's scoring record. Kansas Jayhawks Women's Basketball
The Kansas Jayhawks women's basketball team represents the University of Kansas and competes in the Big 12 Conference of NCAA Division I. The Jayhawks are coached by Brandon Schneider. The Jayhawks have failed to match the success of the men's team, only qualifying for 13 NCAA Tournaments and never making it past the Sweet Sixteen. Carl Henry (basketball)
Carl J. Henry (born August 16, 1960) is an American former professional basketball player. He was a 6'6", 205 lb shooting guard. Born in Hollis, Oklahoma, Henry attended and played collegiately at both the University of Kansas and Oklahoma City University. Henry led Kansas in scoring in both 1982–83 and 1983–84, averaging 16.8 points per game as a junior, and 17.4 points per game in his senior season. He was selected with the tenth pick of the 4th round (80th overall) in the 1984 National Basketball Association Draft by the Kansas City Kings. His NBA career lasted 28 games with the Sacramento Kings in 1985–86 (by then the franchise had relocated from Kansas City, Missouri). Henry last played basketball in 1993 for Bobcat Gent in Belgium.
