X (demo Party)
X is a Dutch demoscene party held in Someren, organized by the demoscene groups Success & The Ruling Company (SCS*TRC), Xenon, and Silicon Ltd. With about 250 visitors, it is the world's largest Commodore 64 demoscene party, attracting demosceners from around the world. X started in 1995 in Utrecht, initially focusing on both the Commodore 64 and PC demoscenes before switching to focus solely on the Commodore 64 in 1998. History X evolved from the three successful parties held by Silicon Ltd between 1991 and 1993. After the third party in 1993, several Silicon Ltd members who helped organize the parties left the group, and a few of these ex-members formed a PC group under the name SuccesS PC in December 1993. Bas Bron
Bas Bron (born 17 July 1974) is a musical artist and a producer of mostly electronic music from Amsterdam, Netherlands. Bastian As Bastian, Bas Bron scored a modest national hit in 2001 with the song "You've Got My Love", which was accompanied by a music video showing the song's lyrics on shirts worn by dancing women, showing only their upper chest. The song reached #17 in the Dutch Top 40. Later in 2001 the debut album ''Ready'' was released, filled with electrofunk and electropop-influenced music enhanced with Commodore 64 sound effects. Two years later the second album ''It's All Downhill From Here'' came out. The title referred to the buildup of the album; the theme of the songs would gradually become darker and heavier. Jeroen Godfried Tel (born 19 May 1972), also known as WAVE, is a Dutch composer. He is best known for numerous computer game tunes he wrote in the 1980s and early 1990s for the Commodore 64. Demoscene
The demoscene is an international computer art subculture focused on producing demos: self-contained, sometimes extremely small, computer programs that produce audiovisual presentations. The purpose of a demo is to show off programming, visual art, and musical skills. Demos and other demoscene productions (graphics, music, videos, games) are shared at festivals known as demoparties, voted on by those who attend and released online. The scene started with the home computer revolution of the early 1980s, and the subsequent advent of software cracking. Crackers altered the code of video games to remove copy protection, claiming credit by adding introduction screens of their own (" cracktros"). They soon started competing for the best visual presentation of these additions. Goto80 (born Anders Carlsson, 9 February 1981) is a Swedish music artist and researcher. He has been described as one of the key players between glitch and chipmusic, as well as an active demoscener. At the turn of the millennium he was one of the first to bring chipmusic to a wider audience, and was also an early adopter of live Game Boy music. He has an extensive back catalogue of free music – often open source – with a wide span of musical influences. He currently focuses on research and art, and maintains a number of blogs and labels such as Chipflip and the text-mode tumblr. Career Music Goto80 released his first music in the demoscene in 1993, at the age of 12. He founded the group ''Hack n' Trade'' and released his music for free in demos and on BBSs. Ruurlo
Ruurlo is a village and former municipality in the province of Gelderland in the eastern part of the Netherlands. The town has a station on the Zutphen to Winterswijk railway line, and is served by trains every half-hour in both directions. In the evening there is an hourly service. Ruurlo Castle lies just outside the town and is a popular place for weddings. The castle was used as the town hall until 1 January 2005, when the municipality Ruurlo merged with the municipalities of Borculo, Neede and Eibergen into the municipality of Berkelland.
